Motorola moto x 2nd gen with Android 4.4. Boss gave it to me, but can't get past google account verification. None of the youtube videos I've watched work

Hi,as for YOUYUBE : do you have correct settings?It's very high data demanding app as well so a big(unlimited) data package is necessary. Also would try install application called youtubeplay. It's not to same as built in Youtube.
And for media streaming I recommend Coreplayer. It will play streaming media and most of other as well(.mp3,.mp4,.avi etc).

Try "pspube.com" on your psp ot watch videos (this is only way to do that for me is well) but firstly you have to download them
