SOURCE: looking for hook gear for

The gear is #53741 and is available at most sewing dealers. The part is also available wholesale at sewing machine services in Canada. Also fits riccar, eatons and babylock machines, so a babylock dealer could help. You will have to beg a repair book or photocopy same to ger mounting and setting instructions. We charge about 60 to install and time the part ONLY.

SOURCE: I have a Riccar 555su

Hello

Get a manual for the 555, it should be able to give you enough knowledge for your machine.

If not look on the website www. riccar.com for a similar model.

Find out what shank your machine is and you should be able to buy parts for it. I find ebay great for sewing machine parts.

THANK YOU FOR VISITING FIXYA

Riccar Super Strech E21129 364J breaking needles

I believe the number you provided was a serial number and not a model number. When I searched for Riccar Super Stretch it came up with "model 510"

Here's the manual for that just in case it's close enough to your machine that you can get it threaded and such.
http://www.riccar.com/ftp/whitepapers/510-Owners-Manual.pdf

To check the timing of any machine.

Make sure the needle is oriented the way it's supposed to be. Then open the bobbin area so you can see the shuttle hook and needle. (this may mean taking both the bobbin cover off and the throat plate where the feed dogs are)
Turn the wheel by hand until you see that the needle is at it's lowest point of travel. At this point the shuttle hook's point should just be ready to pass the needle scarf. If it is back away from it too far... it is "********"... if it has moved past the scarf it is "advanced." In either of those two positions it needs to be timed. Since I am not familiar with the inner workings of your machine I can't advise you on how to correct timing issues... but if you are a logical, observant and methodical mechanically inclined person, you might see how by really examining the machine. (it may be as simple as loosing a screw or bolt and moving the the shuttle/shuttle race) Take your time and be sure to remember where things go... take pictures if you need to.

Now...Other reasons for breaking of needles are as follows:
Incorrect needle for project. such as sewing denim with a silk or lightweight material needle.

Top tension too tight.

Incorrect threading of the upper threads.

Damaged shuttle or needle plates.

The presser foot improperly installed or wrong foot completely.

Needle positioned incorrectly for presser foot.

Good luck.

Hook Drive Gear, Riccar #53741 how to take part off of sewing machine

Hi there,

Today I got such a machine (Riccar) for free from a lady I know. the only problem was that the needle walked against the bobbin (timing problem).

I screwed the sewingmachine open and after some screwing I saw that the part, Hook Drive Gear, Riccar #53741, was broken. Wat I did is I enscrewed two screws wich hold the part on the axe and with a bigger flat screwdriver I could just push the part from the axe, from the other gear. It looks more difficault then it is.

Now I have to get a new part, put it back and time the the machine so that the needle will go normal, at the right time, in the bobbin. Does anybody know the trick to do that?

regards,
Daan

Older 830 will not zig zag stitch. leavers and gears move fine. The needle moves back and forth - left and right but it doesn't pick up thread from the bobbin on the left side so it does a strait stitch...

Firstly, make sure you have fitted a new needle and that you have cleaned/oiled the hook race. Unfortunately, if you are finding that the machine will pick-up the thread and stitch OK when the needle is one side of the stitch-plate, but not when its on the other, it suggests that the timing/synchronisation is out and will need to be professionally adjusted. You can check the timing by adjusting the needle to its right-most position, remove the bobbin case, rotate the handwheel until the needle has gone down through the stitch-plate and is just about to come up again. Stop there. Tip the machine slightly back and release the black plastic hook/shuttle retainer by pressing the metal lever on the top-left side of the bobbin door, so that the hook/shuttle retainer pops open. Drop the hook/shuttle retainer, but leave the hook in place ... be careful that it doesn't drop out and slowly rotate the handwheel until the pointed part of the hook/shuttle rotates clockwise to the place where its point is directly behind the needle. Look carefully and you should see that the point of the hook/shuttle is just above the top of the thread hole in the needle. If it's much lower or higher, the timing is out and will need to be adjusted.

My riccar - model #808 - needs gears. is it possible to have these sent to me?

Yes. However, you wrote "gears" as plural. There is only one gear in that machine; the hook gear. The hook gear is inexpensive and easy to replace and retiming the hook is easy as well. There is another potential problem; the timing belt cogs. They are plastic and, over time, they split, causing the timing belt to jump off time constantly. The replacement kit (2 cogs, belt and idler pulley) is available but is extremely labor intensive and requires a high level of aptitude for mechanical repair.
If you need a hook gear, they are under $10 and can be shipped right to your door. 805-540-9294

808 E that I need a diagram for.I think it the hook gear that broke but before i order one I want to make sure thats what it's called

A common problem with the Riccar 808e is a broken hook gear.

The part number is 53741 and usually runs about $15.

Putting it in is easy but then you must re-time the hook. Let me know if you need help with it. I'm not sure where you can get a diagram or a manual...

Bernette Deco 600 makes loud noise after stitching

hi! there,
open needle plate if the shuttle race and the bobbins has been pull out that making noise,or accumulation of thread under bobbins, if nothing there, run machine and check if shuttle race and bobbins are moving, also with the needle if not, there are opening at the bottom of machine try to open if some gears are broken,or belt is slip.
if broken gears there a lot of parts before you can pull out gear, beside the timing order you cannot put back.this should be done by technician expert
in sewing machine.take this to service center.
