I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The AC works fine in the morning but in the afternoon on my drive home it doesn't work hardly at all. I took it to a shop, and they said they think I have a blockage somewhere in the system which means that I need to have the expansion valve replaced and that will cause my accumulator to need to be replaced. Something like $480 for everything. Does this sound correct (solution, and cost wise?)
Thank you for any assistance.
Umm no this doesnt sound correct to me, did they hook up the ac guages and check to see the pressure? cuz you might just be low on r134a i suggest you take it to another shop for another opinon
are you in alot of stop and go traffic? and how is your air flow across the condensor?
if your in alot of stop and go traffic in the afternoon time theres not alot of air going across the condensor which in terms mean that your ac system gets to hot = high pressure and the high pressure switch will kick the compressur off to protect your system. so i would check and see if you have anything blocking the condensor like leafs or bags bugs small animals and so on but something you could try is to get two box fans and put them in front of your jeep up high enough and turn them on high and see iff that makes a different on how your ac works

Yeah, I added r134A and used a gauge to check the pressure, it is good.. anything else I can check on myself? I'm picking the car up this afternoon and taking it somewhere else on Wed... gonna sweat until then! :)
Yes to stop and go traffic.. you went over my head on air flow across the condensor. (sorry)
