the lever at the back may be slack and missing the turn-point. Try moving up and down a few times, very gently, this may get the correct position,.

SOURCE: where and how do I replace my battery for my pride
Do not use batteries with different amp-hour (Ah) capacities. Do not mix old and new batteries. Always replace both batteries at the same time.
MANDATORY! Battery posts, terminals, and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds. Wear goggles and gloves when handling batteries and wash hands after handling.
WARNING! Always use two batteries of the exact same type, chemistry, and amp-hour (Ah) capacity. Use 12 Volt deep cycle batteries.
1.Remove the battery pack from the Travel Scooter.
2.Carefully turn the pack upside down.
3.Remove the eight (8) screws from the perimeter of the battery pack.
4.Carefully turn the pack right side up and remove the lid.
5.Disconnect the black (-) and red (+) battery cables from the battery terminals.
6.Remove the old battery.
7.Place a new battery in the battery pack.
8.Connect the red battery cable to the positive (+) battery terminal.
9.Connect the black battery cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
10.Position the lid back onto the battery pack ensuring all wires are inside the pack so they don’t become pinched.
11.Carefully turn the pack upside down.
12.Reinstall all screws and tighten.
13.Charge the new batteries for 8-14 hrs before the first use.
I hope this helps and good luck!
SOURCE: Wheels- knocking noise in the right wheel
Hi. If the knocking noise happens with each revolution of the wheel, it is probably the square key in the axle that drives the wheel. Remoce the wheel and wipe a light smear of grease on the axle and key where it fits inside the wheel. As the wheel normally rotates, the weight comes on to the key and off again, causing the noise. The grease allows it to move without making the noise. Sometimes also caused by a stone in the tread, but most likely to be a dry key.Good luck. Neil.
