I have a samsung SCH-W531, Global roaming phone... when i connect my cable to my cellphone to the pc it says wizard canot fine software,,,ummmmmmm wot sort of software do i need ??????? can someone please help me !!!!!!!!

you have to install the software provided by your cellphone carrier(i,e. MetroPcs installation disk) then you must use either the original Samsung data micro USB to USB cable or a USB 2.0 compatible equivalent. The USB 1.1 cables will only charge your phone but not allow you to transfer data so your PC wont see the phone.
All you need is the respective USB cable for your phone and go to the Samsung's website and download the driver from there. Also, take out the memory card and plug it in the computer, it will be recognize as mass storage device and this way you will be able to drag and drop the pictures.
