Took my Pioneer CT=1040W apart. Main belts for both dual tape decks were melted onto the pulleys. There is also another belt on the B tape deck. Appears to be intact, but can't see where it goes.

How can I get at the pulleys to clean them? Would it help to completely remove the tape decks from the housing? How do I do that? How do I install the main 1/4 drive belts? Can't see a way to get the main drive belt around the pulley without dismantling the whole tape deck?

The repair of a dual cassette deck is usually not worth it if you are paying a Technician but since you are doing it yourself, there are screws that must come out of the deck to take the transport out. Some of them require you to take the plastic door off. They are not a treat to work on and often even when you are done they have poor performance anyway. Where the belt goes is indicated on the pictorial diagrams of the service manual. Otherwise it is common sense and a little bit of physics. I have probably done 400 by now. Maybe some TV shops will work on it but they are really not real Technicians for tape decks and most times hacks.

I took my Pioneer SX-450 Receiver and Pioneer CT-1040W Tape Deck apart to move it. Put it back together. Now can't get a tape to play.

After putting a known good tape in the deck, push play, if the tape doesn't move, try rewind and FF. If nothing happens, the deck has a problem. I assume this is a cassette deck. If so, I always try the thrift stores for a new(used) one. There are good bargains there.

Where can I get replacement belts?

They are hard to find but try the MCM Electronics catalog. You will need to know the dimensions of the belt (i.e. width, length...).

Good Luck !

Pioneer CT-W208r won't eject tape.

These dual cassette decks were throw away units in most cases. The belt inside and the grease in the cam mechanism is in bad shape and the deck can not cycle through the steps it need to so as to reach stop. Only stop mode will allow the door block to release. The tape can safely be extracted by a Technician. The deck need work. Dual cassette decks are not always worn the repair cost.

I need to know how to replace the belts on my pioneer ct-w103 cassette deck Thanking you kindly, Jennings

Once again since nobody will actually do the research and give you guys the correct information I will provide the answers to all the incorrect guesses, misleading page references and no responses form our "Pros". I have a copy of the exploded view showing the belts and part numbers to order or compare to. Mt search took me less than a minute to find.

I need a complet set of belts for my Pioneer CT-W103 Double Cassette Deck.

Just measure the diameter of each belt (in mm) and then search with Google. Belts are generally not maker specfic.

Problem with deck B on Pioneer CT-W205R

Better tape decks, like Pioneer, may use a different mechanism for record/play than FF & REW. So it sounds like a belt or mechanical link for the REC/PLAY has failed.
