SOURCE: LOUD HUMMING NOISE

Here's my thoughts:

Make sure it is level.

Could be some things inside the fridge vibrating against each other.

SOURCE: Microwave makes loud noise and does not heat. Smell of light burning

Chances are you have a bad magnetron.

If it's within the magnetron portion of the warranty (usually 5-9 years) but out of the original full warranty (usually 1 year), then your manufacturer will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you or the labor charge to do the work.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

We're happy to help you and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

SOURCE: Makes a loud humming sound and blows fuse behind controll panel

Most likely a shorted capacitor is causing the fuse to blow. Easy and cheap to fix.

Microwave is making a noise

If your microwave is making an unusual or loud humming noise, you may have a problem with the magnetron. This component is part of the high voltage circuit and provides the microwaves that generate the heat. If the magnetron is defective, it may cause a loud humming or buzzing noise.

My r880f microwave has lost its microwave function only grill etc still works any ideas ?

It could be that the magentron has failed. Does it make a loud hum or buzzing noise when you try to use the microwave only function? If it does, chances are that the magnetron has shorted out. The replacement cost can be as high as the cost of a new oven, so it rarely makes sense to fix.

Sharp over the range microwave, no heat when turned on an a loud humming noise

HI, there are two issues here. the Magnetron tube and the noise filter has failed.

Just to make sure of the Magnetron failure, expose the device and, check the Magnetron temp fuse located near the device. this fuse will show no continuity when tested if faulty. if it testes out ok, replace the magnetron.

Dead replaced fuse now makes loud noise

Yes that noise is causing your fuse to blow. Machine gun sound sounds like the High Voltage Capacitor or High voltage diode is bad. (Loud humming sound is usually a bad magnetron or bad power transformer). Most of these parts are inexpensive, except for the magnetron. But most of the repair bill is most likely going to be for labor.

Based on your model, it looks like an over the range microwave. And to fix any of these problems require the removal of the microwave from the wall. So its up to you if you want to deal with that hassle. But you also have to consider that you'll probably have a hard time trying to find a new microwave that will fit.
