In most cases it the type of detergent. The new machines require a detergent marked as "he" or "He" for high efficiency. They are formulated for low suds because the new machines use less water to clean the clothes. You also may be required to use less detergent for that brand of washer.
Another question: Do you have a water softener system installed or is the water in your area naturally soft? The ph of the water effects the sudsing.

How doI unclog the drain on my front washer. It runs and then the last 5 minutes the error code 5ud5 comes up.

5UD5 =SUDS Indicating inability to drain or an unbalanced condition due to using too much or the wrong kind of detergent. You may need to use HE type for high effenciency. Very important for front loaders. If the drain is truly clogged try back flushing with a hose before tearing it down. It's messy but may save you a service call.

The washer takes 100 minutes to wash a load - this seems way too long.

Are you using HE soap? The correct amount? Too much soap or suds can cause the motor to overamp. This sends a signal to the brain that suds are in the clothes. The washer goes into several mini washes to get rid of the excess soap. If the soap aint the problem a small sock can also get between tubs and mimmick the problem.

I put dishwashing liquid soap into my front loading washing machine, UGH!!!!! What should I do? The suds just won't stop!!!! Help

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. As you already know, this is a bad idea. Now, there is probably soap in the entire system. After a few runs they should clear up. I would suggest cleaning the tub out with a towel. I would say they are probably in your pump also. You will probably need to clean your pump out also. It is located inside the washer so it involves a little bit of work. Clean out your dispenser as well. Try not to use water. Just use a towel.

I put a non he soap in. now i have lots of suds. what do i do?? (OK, my 11 year old did it, truly!)

The machine automatically will run a cycle to try to eliminate the excess sud's if it does not work you can try adding some vinegar to the load witch will get rid of the excess sud's ,of course you will have to rewash the clothes....Hope this helps Good Luck

I have a kenmore elite top load washing machine. It keeps giving a code of ld. Ceral number is SM 9711024

Hello, LD stands for long drain.
If all the water isn't out of the unit within a certain time, the ld will flash.
Could be 2 things.

1) There's lint stuck in the pump preventing the water to drain properly or

2) You're using too much soap causing lots of suds also preventing the pump from draining properly. If this is the case, what you need to do is run the washer on full load with no detergent and clothes. Let it go thru the cycle and get rid of eccess suds. This is most likely your problem.

Best of luck :)

Keeps washing

If you are using a front load washer, never use more than one tablespoon of HE laundry soap per load. Now, to get rid of the suds you have: Get a package of Phyzeme (spelling?) tables for stomach gas. Cut about four of the capsules open and add the liquid contents to the washer, then resume wash. That will knock the suds right down without having to run about 10 rinse cycles through the washer.
