The Funai ZV427FX4 doesn't have a tuner. You'll need a set-top box (either a digital tuner or a cable box) that has a composite A/V out. Make sure to use a compatible DVD-R or DVD-RW disc (see page 27 of the manual given below). For basic recording, insert a DVD and press DVD to make sure that the recorder is ready to record to disc instead of video tape. (You may need to format the disc for DVD-RW.) Press Rec Mode until the correct mode is chosen. Then press Input to select composite input 1 or 2 (L1/L2). Set this source to the desired channel. Then press Rec. (For scheduled recording, make sure that the unit is set to DVD. Then press Timer. Follow the on-screen cues to set the time to start and end the recording. Otherwise the steps are the same. Then press Timer Set.) See the manual for screen-shots of the procedure.

The manual for this model is available on the product page: http://www.funaiamerica.com/product/product.php?id=877 . Click on the Downloads tab. The direct link is currently http://www.funaiport.com/download/download.php?id=3361&brand=FUNAI . For older Funai units with an NTSC tuner, you will probably still need the set-top box. However, you can either connect the box to the composite video or RF input. (If you want to record a program from a low-power analog station, you would skip the set-top box.)

I hope this helps.

I am considering purchasing a Funai Full HD UpConvert DVD Recorder/VCR Combo. I have a HD Phillips TV with HDMI connections. I do not have cable - just use over the air TV. How do I connect the Fun

Purchase a DVD recorder/player that has a HDMI cable connection and use the connections on the TV so you'll get a hi def picture. RF will NOT give you a Hi Definition picture even if it's up converted.

Trying to connect Magnavox MWR 10D6 DVD/Recorder to Sanyo HDTV. TV is connected to Dish network through coax. cable.

Unfortunately, the Magnavox MWR10D6 recorder can not record HD signals. It's only video inputs are coax (RF) and composite video; both are limited to 480i (SD). NTSC (analog signals) are translated to video.

Your best recording option is to connect the composite video output of the Dish receiver to the video input (yellow for video, red and white for audio) of the recorder. Then set the receiver to the channel that you want to record and set the recorder to Line In.

HD recorders may exist. They are much more expensive than the SD versions.

I wish that I had better news for you. The manual for the MWR10D6 is available from Funai here: http://www.funai-corp.com/support/om/MWR10D6.pdf .

We have a Funai analogue tv and a Sony analogue DVD recorder, we need to know how to connect them using 1 or 2 digiboxes.

If your TV and DVD recorder have two SCART sockets each, then you can connect the two boxes to the second scart of each device. When recording the channel selected will have to be AV2. If either of them hasn't a second scart socket. Then I suggest you get one of these scart switching boxes from places such as Amazon.

The buttons on the unit will allow you to record, whilst still watching the TV. 12_17_2012_5_01_21_pm.jpg

IS THERE A CODE TO SET MY FUNIA SV2000 DVD RECORDER TO WORK WITH MY DIRECT TV REMOTE

Remotes are set to the DVD recorder in the REMOTE. It is difficult to control a DVD recorder with a universal remote except for basic functions. The remote manual needs to list the DVD Recorder or a similar Funai model to control it. Try different Funai codes from your remote book. One might work for minimal stop, play, pause, etc.
