How do i adjust my pushrod on my 1990 chevy silverdo

  1. To adjust the push rod length, first remove the master cylinder from the power booster.
  2. Using a pair of pliers, turn the push rod adjusting not in to shorten and out to lengthen the push rod.
  3. If the push rod is nonadjustable, use shims between the master cylinder and power booster to shorten it.

How do you adjust the valves on a

If you have the stock pushrods, you can't!

I think it was sometimes during the EVO engines (which pre-date your Twin-Cam engine), Harley switched to NON-ADJUSTABLE push rods.

1991 harley ulra classic has stock heads but adjustable pushrods with no colors. how do i adjust before firing motor

Hello
I hope this helps out.
the 2 long push rods are the exhaust and the 2 short ones are the intake.
jack up the bike so the rear tire is off the ground.
put in 5th gear so you can turn over the motor by turning the back tire.
it takes 2 people, one to turn the tire and the other to be looking at the lifter to make sure it is at its lowest point.
you should have all push rods in but very loose.
start with the rear exhaust and then rear intake then front intake then front exhaust.
turn the motor over with back tire, looking at the lifter, watch to see it get to its lowest point.
when it is at its lowest point, stop turning the tire.
now tighten up the push rod so you can spin it but no up and down movement.
now tighten to push rod specs(factory or aftermarket have # of turns or flats to turn)
yours should be 3 turns, but check your manual specs or call dealer and ask how many turns for that year just to make sure.
after 3 turns the push rod will be tight. You have to wait about 15-20 minutes for the lifter to bleed down. try to spin the push rod after 20 minutes. if its hard to spin, wait 20 minutes more, if its hard to spin then you may have over tightened the push rod.
if the push rod spins freely but no up and down movement, then the lifter has bled down and your ready to move to the next push rod.
repeat this process with each push rod.
once done, make sure the spark plugs are out and turn the motor over a few times, as the motor turns over, have your buddy stop when you see a lifter at its lowest point and spin the push rod.
it should spin free with no up and down movement. check them all.
thats it.

just remember to make sure the number of turns for the type of push rods you have.
call the manufacturer who makes your push rods, or call the dealer if they are harley davidsion.

Note: there is basically zero lash once the bike is running, because the oil takes up the clearance.

Transmission will not engage on Craftsman Model 536 279 320 ridung Lawn Mower.

Hi, W/D here.
Look at the very rear of the mower for a slot that resembles a keyhole. There will be a rod in or behind the hole. The rod must be "in" for the transmission to engage. When the rod is in between "in" and "out", the transmission will usually make a clicking sound when it is pushed. If the rod is all the way towards the "out" position, it can be pushed without the transmission causing a drag effect. Push the rod all the way "in", and try it again.
Best regards, --W/D--

He said somethig aboat head rods? i am looking at a1980 porche 911 targa

The only thing I can think is that he is talking about push rods. A push rod touches the cam shaft in the block and the rocker arm in the head. It opens the valves. The flat engines are weird. I don't even know if they use pushrods.

How do I replace the lifters on a 1999 twin cam HD. I have adjustable pushrods installed

This can be a big zero on the fun scale, so get ready. First place your bike on a lift (borrowed or owned, just get one) with rear wheel off the ground. Now remove your air cleaner and maybe your filter. Now drop the pushrood tubes one at a time, not all at once (pick a jug only one). With the bike in gear and holding the pushrod tube up so you can see the bottom part of the push rod, rotate engine until you are on flat side of the cam. You'll know when the push rod is as low as it can be and the wheel moves a little and the push rod doesn't. Your push rods have a jam nut on them and the pushrod is not round in places you must loosen the jam nut and then holding both pieces of the pushrod you can screw the lower end of the push rod into the other piece. This will shorten the push rod. BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO DROP THE JAM NUT. If you do you will be cussin for a month! Now you can shorten the push rod enough to get it out. Work only one cylinder at a time and yes note which push rod goes where as most HD ones have different diameter ends.
Soak you lifters in oil overnight, not for most of the morning or a few hours, but overnight. Once you get both push rods out use your fingers, a small pick, or what ever to pull the lifters out. Replace the lifters, O rings for push rod tubes, put the tubes over the push rod and looking at the lifters make absolutely sure they are in the lowest position they can be, adjust you push rods. If they are HD Screamin Eagle ones you extent the push rods to what we call zero lash, that is until they make firm contact with the lifter but are not compressing the lifter. this is just something you gotta do to figure out how. Then once you have zero lash HD sez unscrew or lengthen the push rod by holding the top piece with a wrench and unscrewing the bottom piece 3 and one half turns, then lock it up with the jam nut. Put push rod tubes together move to the next cyclinder.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO MAKE SURE YOU DO:
Work on a completely COLD bike!!
Soak lifters over night
Use new O rings
Adjust push rods absolutely at zero lash + 3.5 turns (if HD) when lifter is lowest in bore.

This is a painful process cause after things get a few hours on them you WILL want to go back in and readjust. I am truely sorry this is such a pain. I hope this helps and good luck,

JP
