First check check the pitch selector switch to be sure it is not in proportional spacing. if it isn't push down on it and see if it goes away, if is goes away the keyboard needs repaired.

In order to type the extra symbols you must be in keyboard II I believe it is hold the code ket while pressing the 5 key.

Check the pitch slide switch in the left of the keyboard, it should be in 10 or 12 if it is slide it up and down they do get dirty.
