Brother ML-300 Typewriter Questions & Answers
Striker stuck; will not strike any keys.
Sounds like the drive clutches are out of sync or a spring has come off the hammer. You will need a trained tech to repair unit. I would go to brother-usa.com to find the nearest service center. Please do not try to take unit apart yourself, too easy to break plastic latches.
Typewriter won't type
check to see that when yu replace the ribbon it has not slipped in front of the print ribbon and that you have not got the button for corection pressed by mistake it is using this to print you letters not the ink ribbon
Ribon will not type
it may have come loose from its post or something in the ribbon drive broke
Bought new Brother ML300 will not type anything on the paper, please help!
I would check all the basic stuff first. Is the print wheel locked into position? Is the platen all the way forward? (lever right side) Is the ribbon installed correctly and not cocked up on one side? Do you hear the hammer striking the paper? If you hear the hammer striking the paper, it is a ribbon problem. If you don't hear it, it is a hammer / print wheel problem.
Striker is stuck
why not put some singer oil. maybe it is all dusted and dirty.. try to clean it once in awhile
I installed the correction tape and it does not correct
Sounds like you have diagnosed the problem. Remove the correct tape and make sure that it's not the "sticky" type. (it will be hard to unwind if it is). Next try to manually lift the part that's supposed to move to see if it does. If it's sluggish (hard to move) put rags around it to prevent over spray and carefully clean all the moving parts with WD40. Make very sure that the WD40 does not get on any electronic parts! It will also mess up the platen. So, the more rags around the moving parts, the better. I used to work on IBM typewriters, and WD40 sometimes works wonders.
