Memory card I decided to download my photos from my camera using a friends lead. This was successful but when i went to use the camera again the screen flashed that the card was not initialized and will not let me take any photos. This has never happened before. Is there anthing i can to enable me to take photos again? Thank YouHarriet

You will need to get a recovery program such as Wondershare Photo Recovery. There is a great article about how to recover lost photos. I will post it for you below.

Does your laptop happen to be a Mac? But no matter. You can still use your laptop to recover your photos with recovery software. Here's several freeware for PC's, but it also includes a link to one freeware for Macs just in case my guess was right. Seem to see this particular problem occurring frequently (corrupted card after plugging into computer), but primarily occurring with Macs, and also gaming systems such as Wii.
Now to get the card working again, after recovering your photos, you'll need to format the card in your camera using the cameras format feature. If the camera does not recognize the card, you'll need to format it first in a PC to FAT32, then reformat again in your camera.

You'd better remove the memory card from camera, and connect the memory card to computer with a card reader, and then follow above tutorial to perform photo recovery.

after formatting the memory is deleted for good and there is no way to get them back ..If they were in a SD card ..you may try with a recovery software ..but almost never they get recovered after formatting ...when you just delete them there are chances for some of them to let a trace ..but when you format a memory unit you practically delete and rearrange the memory unit size again ..(alocation ) ..and there can not be anything left ..

Try freeware program called Recuva.

Go buy a cheap card reader that you put your photo card into and connect to your computer. You can get tham fairly cheap. $10 to $20 or even less.

You may try some photo recovery software to rescue the files on your digital camera sd card, here are some for your options.

Be careful: Before your pictures are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the card in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.

how to recover deleted photos from camera

You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Start" and wait for it to do it's magic.

You need to use a card reader either one already in your computer (some have one, some don't). Or buy an external USB card reader. They are around $2 on Amazon.
