It is not easy to replace video chips at the main board. It is almost impossible. The best way to replace the entire board as card basis.

Hp dv6000 attempts to start led lights come on then shuts down repeats this process

The hp dv6000 has a video card issue that is very comman the cpu heatsink and the video card and conncted to the same copper heatsink and what happens is the video card overheats and the pins that are soldered to the board come loose now there is a couple of ways to fix it option a is to take the laptop apart and remove the motherboard and heatsink and the cpu chip then locate the video chip and isolate the video card and heat it up to remelt the solder points this can be done by taking a aluminum can and cuting out the square that is same size of video chipthen with a heat gun heat up the chip so the solder joints remelt to the board but BE VERY CARFUL IF YOU OVER HEAT THE CHIP IT WILL MELT once the chip has cooled then reistall your cpu chip add new thermal paste and get a flat square piece of copper the size of the cpu chip and put it on the cpu chip then add more thermal paste and put the heat sink back on and reassemble the laptop and if you didnt damage the chip it should fire right up option b is to buy a replacement motherboard that has the upgraged heatsink installed and put that in but make sure yoyu order the right board check the replacement part number sticker on the motherboard and make sure yoyu order the right one i have done this process to about 200 of these hp dv6000 and they are still working today

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400

It is not possible to replace a graphics card on a laptop. The video chip is part of the motherboard and most likely the fix is a replacement motherboard.
How do you know it is a video card fault? If could just a back-light problem. Please follow my instructions to determine the fault and possible fix - click on this link :-

Video card replacement? The video card in my G4/15" AL seems to be going. Can I replace this?

Unfortunately no. The video chip is integrated with the board. This is the case with nearly all laptops. Their are places which will reseat the chip or install a new one it is expensive though.

Black screen

I suppose you are saying that the computer is powering up, however, you cannot see the video. In that case you have a bad graphic chip or video card. The gateway media centers came with built-in graphic chips. Thus, your system is dead.

You need to replace the system board.

Continual blank white screen on acer aspire 5720, not booting up and no start up menu. am using my son's laptop to post this!

likely a messed up video circuit on the board, (video card/video chip). Call Acer and see if the video chip is a seperate daughter-card module or if it is part of the mainboard. in either case, you will need a tech to repair the hardware.

Hi I have a Toshiba satellite laptop M30-127 when I boot up the screen breaks up into many colored lines and the resolution seemed to go I'm told by some Toshiba service technicians that there is a problem...

This may or may not be of some help. http://www.laptopka.com/2006/04/12/remove-replace-video-board/

Usually with laptops you have to replace the mobo but looks like there may be a possibility (slim one) that the card can be replaced, however I could not find anything as far as parts to get to replace just the video card so its looking more and more like the whole mobo would need to be replaced.

HP DV6000 PROBLEM WITH VGA CHIP

Since this is an on board video chip you can't change it out or get a new grapics card. The HP DV6000 doesn't have a graphics card adapter in it. So your best bet would be to replace the motherboard.
Which you can search for online to buy.

Hope this helps.

Evga 8600 gt broken

It is probably cheaper and less time consuming to replace the actual video card. Many manufacturers sell only finished products and you will not be able to use a different chip or it will cause problems.

I hope this helps.

Video card

to replace the video card you would have to replace the motherboard it is built into it.before doing so try removing all the ram chips on the underside in a compartment w/4 screws match the ram accordingly(go to best buy or even ebay)
its pc2700 ddr ram and probably pretty cheap right now just buy one stick if that fixes your problem its cheaper than spending 500 or 600 on a board replacement.
