The problem is hard water. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com to find out more info.

Glasses and dishes not coming clean on top shelf

If you have hard water, glasses can look spotted and cloudy even after cleaning. Sometimes changing the dishwasher detergent can help. The easiest solution to clearing up glasses that start to look cloudy is to add some vinegar to the bottom of the dishwasher before you start a cycle. Simply add 1/4 of white vinegar and it will clear up your glasses very well.
You should see marked improvement after the first time you do this. If they are not crystal clear then simply repeat the process until all of the cloudiness is gone. In fact I recommend to using a little vinegar in each cycle to maintain the clarity of the glass.

Note: you can pre-test this by rubbing some vinegar on an individual glass with a cloth. If you cannot remove the cloudiness by soaking it and rubbing vinegar on it then it is possible that the glass is etched due to harsh or cheap dishwasher detergent and vinegar will not solve the problem.

Our dishwasher has started leaving cloudy film on silverwar, glassware etc. Used Finish in washer per instructiuons. Have cleaned with white vingar per owners manual. Spray arms, filters all clean. ...

Run 2x bottles of Dishwasher Magic 1x per each wash. You can pick this up at your supermarket. Run on normal cycle without any dishes. Kills 99.9 bacteria and cleans out dishwasher.
Also make sure your not using rise aid and detergent with rise aid in it. To much rise aid will cloud the dishes as well.
Have a great day!

I get a film on the inside of dishwasher as well as dishes at the end of a cycle. You can really see the cloudy film on glasses. Dishwasher is only 18 months old.

Cloudy film is usually from hard water. Or it means the dishes arn't drying properly. you wanna make sure your using jet dry and that your not using liquid soap. Liquid soap is a killer of dishwashers and creates mineral deposits. If you have hard water getting a water softener helps too. Theres a cleaning agent called dishwasher magic that works to clean the dishwasher . You wanna make sure your heater is coming on too.

Clear glass dishes are cloudy. What is causing it? We have checked the arms--they seem to be working fine. Some days it does better than others--today they were extremely cloudy. I washed the glasses by...

You can determine the cause of cloudy glassware by soaking a glass in vinegar for 5 minutes. If the cloudiness is removed it is due to hard water deposits; make sure the salt reservoir is topped up. Do not worry about over-filling it.
If the cloudiness is not removed, it is a permanent condition known as etching. In this situation, use less detergent and stop pre-washing. Dishwashing detergent needs a bit of soil to work on, otherwise it will tend to foam up.

Glasses dirty looking and cloudy after wash cycle.

If there is not enough water, the dishes will not get cleaned. This could be caused by a partially closed water shut-off valve (located under the sink), or a faulty dishwasher water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side).

Also, There is usually two, sometimes three spray arms in a dishwasher. Make sure there is no debris blocking the holes inside each spray arm.

**Water temperature Note***

To get the best results, the water has to be at 120 degrees Fahrenheit when entering the dishwasher.

Concerning the Film, or cloudy look after the wash cycle.

This problem occurs due to excessive calcium build up inside the dishwasher. Try cleaning you dishwasher using a dishwasher cleaner. There are a few out there, Try Dishwasher Magic.

Cycle timer displays very different times for cycle, cleaning is not particularly good. Problems related? glasses appear filmy, even when rinse agent is used.

your dishwasher uses an optical sensor to constantly monitor the water turbidity or cleanliness if it detects the water is cloudy it will extend the wash time and vice versa there are several reasons for cloudy glasses check to see if they taste salty,or if the cloudiness washes off, this usually happens when the baskets are loaded badly and the detergents/temps are not set correctly.

Dishes have filmy finish

hello. this will help a great deal.

First of all empty out your dishwasher, toss in two cups of plain white or cider vinegar and run it on the highest and longest cycle.

Always run the hot water in the sink first and start the dishwasher only when the water is as hot as it will get.

This wash will clean out your dishwasher thoroughly.

Then always do your dishes after you have rinsed any residue off of them before placing them in the dishwasher and I always recommend the pot scrubber cycle if you have one.
