Touch screen controls offset by an inch

My GPS touch screen is offset by at least an inch. So the touch screen is still working but I have to touch at least an inch to the right of the desired function. (ie to select "show maps" on the main screen i have to touch "enter address"; to select "enter address" I have to touch "points of interest" and so on ...)
I need to reset the screen but the problem is to get to the settings menu the arrow that would get me there is right at the furthest right side of the screen which means it's at least an inch off my reach.
I have tried to drain the battery and I also have tried to reset the whole thing a few times and nothing seems to work.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

Can't get past the charging screen

Have you tried to "restart" the GPS by pressing the reset key at the back of the GPS ?
Usually, the media files (pictures, videos, music, text) are loaded (copied from your source/PC) to the T-Flash (SDHC) card ... and inserted into the GPS. The GPS device will recognize these files (in their appropriate formats, e.g. music WAV or WMA9 files, movie AVI, WMV, ASF files, eBook TXT files, pictures JPG, GIF, BMP, PNG files) and display the selections in their (respective) interface screens.

It turned on and said touch dot several times now the screen is off center

Turn off Garmin. Pres top left screen and hold. While holding, turn unit on but keep holding corner. Once the black dot shows up again, use the eraser part of a pencil to chase the dot. That would give exact measurements. Your fingers may be wet or too large and are offsetting the screen area readings. Good Luck

My older garmin came with a remote and my touch screen went bad. So in order for me to use it at all, I have to use the remote control.

Touchscreen offset

Here's what you do: Turn off the gps. Then, hold the power button for approximately 30 seconds. The calibration screen will appear. Follow the instructions to re-calibrate the touch screen.
