Car would not start. The only way to get it to run was to push start it. Very easy to start with a pop of the clutch. Had battery checked fine bought a new starter and installs it, still won't start. Son ran a toggle switch from starter to inside of car and that worked fine, someone tried to steal car and left the toggle switch in the on position and burn out my starter but now it won't even start when we push start it. Can anyone help me.
Well Sandra , the thing to do would be to get it to turn the engine over with the key , Then diagnose the no start problem . Look at a wiring diagram (do you know what that is ?) When you turn the key to start , the electrical part of the ignition switch sends B+ voltage to the starter interrupter relay through the clutch switch to the starter motor solenoid . Testing the electrical circuit with a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter with the help of a wiring diagram ,so you know where to test is the proper way to diagnose the problem . Not guessing ,an rigging the stuff . You can find free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html
Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine ! Under system click on engine ,then under subsystem click starting . Click the search button then the third blue link .
