Do you mean the dishwashing powder? You can drop the tablets or measured powder into the bottom of the dishwasher. Try adding 1/4 cup of vinegar to the long wash cycle to maintain a clean dishwasher and make the dishes sparkle.

What do I need to do if I put rinse aid in the salt compartment, is that a problem?

Shouldn't be a problem. Top up with salt as soon as you can. That will avoid streaky glassware.

The salt in the dishwasher compartment is flushed away in a single cylce

Salt is typically used in a dishwasher to regenerate the water softener. The water softener is a device that helps to remove hard water minerals, such as calcium and magnesium, from the water that is used in the dishwasher. When the water is soft, it can more easily remove food particles and stains from dishes, resulting in cleaner dishes. The salt that is used in the dishwasher is typically added to the water softener compartment and is used over time to regenerate the water softener.
If you are observing that the salt in the dishwasher compartment is being flushed away in a single cycle, it could be caused by a few different issues:
  1. Overfilling: If the water softener compartment is overfilled with salt, it can cause the salt to be washed away during the wash cycle.
  2. Leak: If the water softener compartment is not properly sealed, water can leak out and flush away the salt.
  3. Incorrect type of salt: If the wrong type of salt is being used, it may not be compatible with the water softener and can wash away during the wash cycle.
  4. Water pressure is too high: High water pressure can cause the salt to be washed away.
  5. Clogged filter: If the filter in the water softener compartment is clogged, it can cause the salt to be washed away.
It's important to consult the manual of the dishwasher to understand if this is a common issue or if the problem is specific to your dishwasher. If the problem persists, it is best to consult a professional for repair or maintenance.

Where do i put the salt

Hello Maria,

The salt goes in the salt compartment in the base of the washing compartment. Unscrew the lid of the salt compartment (counter-clockwise), pour in salt until the compatment is full or nearly full then screw the lid back on firmly, but do not overtighten it.

If the dishwasher is new and you are using it for the first time, pour about 1 litre of cold clean water into the salt compartment before adding the salt. If you spill any salt or the water spills over the top of the salt compartment, it will wash/drain away the next time you use the washer.

The most important thing is to only use dishwasher salt. The salt is used for water-softening and only salt sold specifically for dishwashers can be used for this purpose.

The picture above is from a Bosch dishwasher. You may have another brand or model of dishwasher, but the salt compartment will still be in the base of the washing compartment and will have a cap which you unscrew as above.

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please let me know the brand and model number of your dishwasher.

Regards,
BElectric

Dishwasher is not draining properly. Left the lid off the salt portal.

If anything other than salt can enter the salt portal, the decalcification system might get broken. I once, by accident, filled the cleaning agent into the salt compartment. The whole decalcification system had to be exchanged. The technician said, that nothing else but salt should enter the salt compartment and even leaving the lid open while using the machine can compromise its functionality.

My dishwasher is flashing for salt it is a Miele and i want to know what kind of salt to put in and how much - i have the plastic bowl thing to put it in the dishwasher

Use the salt supplied by your service provider. Or try in a super market.Ask for dish washer salt.
If a plastic funnel is supplied use it to fill the salt compartment. The quantity as it holds.

Do not fill kitchen salt used for food!

I have a credaplan integrated dishwasher with no manual it came with the house so is about 15-20 years old. I want to put salt in it. I have found a compartment with an 's' on it but just want to be sure...

When you openbyhe compartment it should be full of water, this is where the salt goes. Having never owned one before, make sure you only us granular dishwasher salt, never table or rock salt

Where do I put salt into a G665 model

Salt and rinse aid are low if the indicator light is on.

Salt is placed in a compartment in the bottom of the inside of the dishwasher. It has a round approx 10cm diameter screw cap.

Rinse aid goes in under a flap in the inside of the door near the powder dispenser

I put powder detergent in salt compartment in my dishwasher by mistake. What do I do next?

Just flush it out by pouring plenty of water into the receptacle. You don't have to get every last trace out. Make sure to wear rubber gloves and possibly eye protection as the powder is caustic and so you need to avoid skin and eye splashes.

You could alternatively leave the salt chamber cap off and run the dishwasher empty for a couple of cycles; that will allow the powder to dissolve without any chance of you getting splashes on your skin.

Put rock salt in instead of dishwasher salt wat damage has been done if any

Salt? Why are you using salt to begin with? Why are you not using the liquid soaps etc. If your one of those all natural people i use all natural liquid etc. Salt is corrosive and parts that are not stainless steel will corrode quickly!
