It should spin a little at least when you press to start button.
If its not, please check the connection of the HDD.

If its spin and PC reboots consequently than you probably need a new higher wattage PSU.

I have a latitude D600 and I am now getting the 'disk read error' after installing a new larger than 137 GB hard drive. I know (now) I need to upgrade the BIOS to see the larger hard drive, bu

Unless Dell has the upgrade for the bios to include the larger hardware you are going to be in trouble, I would go online to Dell and check for upgrades to your model if they still support it. The other option is contact customer and technical support to see it they can give you a alternative solution.

I have a extra hitachi hdd 30 gb ..i want it to be a external hard drive.. i reformat it already and the hitachi hdd 30gb is now in the external enclosure.. the problem now is that my computer didnt...

1. Decide which hard drive will be the startup (master) drive. If this drive was the startup drive previously, or if it's a new hard drive, then the master drive designation will already be set.
2. To change the designation of a new drive to be a slave drive, skip to step 4.
3. To change the designation of an existing drive to be a slave drive: Turn off the computer, unplug the power cord, remove the drive from its drive bay, and disconnect the drive from its power cord and ribbon cable.
4. Check the hard drive documentation or the label on the drive itself for master/slave jumper settings.
5. Find the jumpers on the circuit board of the drive. Jumpers are plastic plugs with metal sleeves that form a circuit between a pair of pins. Jumper locations are labeled on the board with a J followed by a number (such as J20).
6. Use tweezers or very small pliers to remove or reposition the jumpers to the configuration shown in the documentation or on the disk label.

Transcend storejet 25 mobile is not recognised

if your unit only uses one cord ( USB ) for data and
power , the unit side may be damaged , the life span
of the USB hubs and the cords that use them are not known sometimes for no reason whatsoever they stop
working , and is the most common reason for hard
ware to malfunction , and it is possible to replace
the outer closure , remove the HDD you can find
a suitable replacement closure at radio shack for
40$ that allows you to hook up a 2.5 SATA HDD
to any computer Gigaware makes a very nice
portable model , if the HDD works then you have
just trouble shot the closure to the HDD .
