As far as I know, the HBS700 does not have a mute function on the headset. The manual is available from the LG product support site: http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-HBS700 . The direct link is http://www.lg.com/us/support/products/documents/HBS700_Manual.pdf . Oddly, the microphone does get muted automatically if your device is connecting to a local wi-fi signal.

Remove the old battery from your device and take it with you to a store which sells/services cell phones. They will be able to sell you the correct one. Another option is to take the device with you.

No The sim card for the older models is not the same size as the new iPhone 5. You can take your old sim card to your provider and they can make you a sim card to fit your new phone.
