Hi jtc1280 when you say motors are running, does that mean the compressor motor or is this just the cooling fans.
I suggest you remove the cover on the rear bottom to access the compressor motor and check the compressor by putting your hand on the compressor be cautious when doing this the compressor may be hot if not working correctly un plug the compressor and plug back up with hand on compressor see if you can fill the compressor running this motor runs with very little noise. If this motor is very hot insure that the colling fans are working and also that the condensing coil is free of lint build up which can make the unit over heat if this area has a lot of lint build up unplug unit clean the bottom out with air hose and vacuum if no air is available just use a dust brush to clean good let the compressor cool for 30 or 40 minutes before plugging back in.

I have a Kenmore refrig./freezer (top freezer, bottom refrig.) that stays in my garage all year long. After this very cold winter, it has stopped working. The light goes on, but no sound of motor, and...

-Possibly no more Freon.

Try this:
-Turn the control switch all the way to 0. Let it stay for 10 minutes or more then turn it up to number 5 to see it kick the motor or not.
If not then possibly the relay is bad.
But if there is power there then the motor is bad.

Good luck and do not store any food in until it had fixed

The freezer is freezing but the refrigerator is not getting cold why?

check the damper door vent located between the refrige and freezer for being iced up and stuck shut,if cold air from freezer can't get past thid door the refrige will warm up,if this isnt the problem, adjust the refrige temp control and watch and see if this makes this door open and close as you adjust the temp of the refrige compartment

The fridge does not seem to be cold.

if just the refrige isnt cold, check the damper door located between the freezer and refrige compartments and see if its open to let in cold air from freezer,if not sometimes they freeze shut and cant operate with temperature setting changes/if nothings cold, then replace the ptc overload relay located on the compressor body,it just unplugs off the compressor

Food is freezing on left side of refrig and not so cold on right

Check the back wall of the freezer section for any ice buildup. This would be from a failure to defrost and requires parts.
Check the freezer side for the evaporator fan motor. Is the fan motor running?
If not a fan motor is needed.
If there is ice on the back wall of the freezer you can activate the defrost control by turning the cold control thermostat OFF then back ON "3" times.
Once you activate the control listen closely in the freezer side for a sizzling sound. This would indicate the defrost thermostat and defrost heater are good and the defrost timer needs replacing. If there is no sizzling sound after 20 minutes, the defrost thermostat and possibly the defrost heater need replacing.

My Maytag Plus side by side is cold in the freezer but not cold enough in the refrig part despite turning the refrig control to a colder setting. No air seems to be blowing out of the air circulator vent.

this is usually a problem with evaporator fan not turning when the unit is running.check the freezer compartment and listen to the fan if it running. if it is not running it needs to be replaced.one good indication is ice or frost build up on the rear of the freezer compartment

ED25PQDW01 side by side refrig -freezer is inconsistent. Need to have full cold to maintain freezer temp. cleaned coils, but still an issue.

Do you see a light coat of frost in freezer section about 12 inches up (defrost problem indication) ? Has the icemaker slowed down a bit in ice production ? What is the refrigerator control set on ? When you turn the freezer up completely , it cuts off the cold air flow which cools the refrig section . If refrig control is set mid way , turn it up higher , so refrig will run longer , but lower the freezer setting so some cold air will enter the refrig section . Also check to see if the freezer fan is working .
