My function key (F2) turns off my internet. In order to do work at home, I need to be able to when within the application f2 to go into the financial recovery part of the claim. When I try this it boots me off the internet and I loose my remote desktop connection.
This behavior can usually be altered in the BIOS of your laptop. When you turn on the machine, you should see a very quick bit of information for accessing the BIOS. Often this is the F1, F2, F10, <Esc> or <Del> key. You'll need to press this key repeatedly right after you press the power button to turn on the computer. If you miss the timing and Windows starts up, just wait and shut down the computer from Windows (or your Windows login screen). I usually need about 5 times to hit the key properly. (Note: for systems with Windows 8, the machine may boot too fast for the key press to work at all. In that case, press Shift while clicking on the Restart option from the Power Options (Settings from the Charms menu or on the Tile Start page). Then choose the option to enter the BIOS/UEFI from the Advanced Restart options.) You may need a USB keyboard connected to the laptop, if the BIOS is accessed by F2 as well.
Find the Wireless settings menu in your BIOS. Set it to keep the Wireless adapter enabled but set the F2 toggle option to Disabled. Apply the changes and Save them on exit.
If you post a comment with the specific make and model of your laptop, I may be able to give you more information on where in the BIOS menu to find the wireless settings.
Now, you should be able to only toggle the wi-fi setting from the Wi-fi icon in the task bar notifications area or from the Networking Control Panel (Change adapter settings).
An alternative option is to use a wired network connection when you use the application with the F2 problem. (This will require you to keep your laptop close to your router while you work. Depending on your work pattern/space this could require a lot of reorganizing of your work area. However, the wired network doesn't toggle off with F2.)
I hope this helps.

Change the hotkey settings so a key other than F2 affects your internet connection.
FN Lock, if (F2) is white your FN Lock is on, if FN is blue or yellow, You need to press FN (Function) key then (F2).

There should be, i.e as in via the Network Connections in Windows. Check i Device Manager if ALL is well ad Enabled, i.e the Wireless Device.
Also you might want to enable it via BIOS setup, especially if it is Onboard and not a Plug-in Device for Wireless Connection such as a PCMCIA Wireless NIC, etc etc.
Right Clicking on Icons often reveals many shortcuts to what you can do, eg Properties of the Wireless Network Connections Enable, Disable, Status, Repair and so on.
Take your time and learn what hidden alternatives there are to navigating thru Windows.
Hopefully you'll be able to fix the problem if not already done so.
SOURCE: cannot enter bios boot order
just when turn on notebook press esc then appear option f1 and thats all
SOURCE: I am unable to activate wireless card. I have to
It could be a drivers problem... Unistall the drivers from the device manager and install a fresh one from the dell website.. Try pressing the FN+F2.. Still no go.. Try to check whether the keyboard is working.. Still no go - resaet the Wireless card... Still no go.. Replace the wireless card..
