Why does the steering wheel locks when I try to make a left or right turn in my 2002 Lincoln LS? What is wrong when I hear a grinding noise coming from the engine when I try to make a turn?

The grinding noise is from the steering pump going into overload and the pressure relief valve is working. If you have recently worked on the pump or steering check that the hydraulic lines have correctly installed It appears that when turning right the steering is trying to turn left.

SOURCE: steering wheel controls

Replace the clock spring, or check all the cabling and plugs first. If you are inexperienced take it to an auto electrician, otherwise do it yourself but disconnect the negative battery terminal for 2 minutes prior to opening the steering wheel to check the plugs, as not doing so could cause the airbag to go off. In addition you can also take out the airbag fuse. Check radio control plugs and close it up again and reconnect everything in reverse order. If that doesn't fix it, then have the clock spring replaced professionally, its too much mucking around if you don't know what you're doing.

SOURCE: 2002 lincoln ls engine light

These cars are famous for leaky seals where the valve cover interfaces with the cylinder head, at the spark plug journals. They fill with oil, short the coils and cause a misfire. Driving it any significant distance can destroy your catalytic converters ad unburnt fuel ignites therein, creating inferno-like conditions and a fire hazard too. You'll get a "300 code", such as 301 if cylinder 1 is misfiring, 302 for # 2, etc. Pull the coil off the spark plug for that cylinder and if it is moist at all, that's your issue. Have new seals put in, or you'll just keep blowing coils at $50 a whack.

SOURCE: i have a 32 code

If all is fine, try resetting the codes and see if it comes back again.
The flashing SRS light it called an LFC code. The reason you are getting different information is that it does not pinpoint a defective part - but that you have either a open circuit or a short.... so many things can cause this.
here are the codes:

B1932 32 8 Driver Air Bag Circuit Resistance High
B1993 36 22 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Ground
B1992 36 22 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Battery or Ignition
B1994 36 22 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit High Resistance
B1995 36 22 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Resistance Low

Typically, a 32 is a broken or open wire, and a 36 is a short.

So that is why a 32 is usually the connector under the driver seat (to the driver position sensor in the seat) since the seat moves back and forth all the time (with easy-entry) - the wires break causing it to go 'open circuit'.
the 36 is usually a short - so when the clock-spring fails - it's actually a ribbon cable in the steering column that wear through - causing multiple wires to rub through bare and short to each-other.
but - since this is an electircal circuit - any bare wire could cause

Have knock in steering wheel when turning left or right

In the steering wheel? Or front wheels. If you are hearing a clicking noise coming from your front wheels when you turn you have a cv joint that is bad.

It sounds like a wheel bearing is going bad. They are easy to change. If you have a place to jack the vehicle up. Try spinning the front wheels. You should hear a scraping noise as the wheel turns. Also replace both sides at the same time,as the otherside is not far behind.

Here is the Technical Service Bulletin that maybe of help, worth looking into but can't guarantee that it would fix your problem Steering - Steering Column Clunking When Turning TECHNICAL Bulletin No.: 01-02-32-001P Date: November 25, 2009 Subject: Clunk Felt/Noise Heard From Steering Column, Steering Gear and/or Front Of Vehicle During Turning Maneuver and/or Steering Wheel Rotation (Replace Intermediate Shaft As Directed) Models: 2001-2004 Buick Regal 2005-2008 Buick Allure (Canada Only), LaCrosse 2000-2008 Chevrolet Impala 2000-2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1998-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue 2004-2007 Pontiac Grand Prix Supercede: This bulletin is being revised to add the 2008 Buick LaCrosse/Allure. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 01-02-32-001O (Section 02 - Steering). Condition Some customers may comment on a clunk type noise coming from the front of the vehicle while driving during a turning maneuver.

1. Locate a large area (parking lot) where the vehicle can be turned in a tight circle. 2. Turn the steering wheel to the right and/or left all the way to the steering lock, then off the steering lock a 1/4 turn. 3. Drive the vehicle approximately 5 km/h (3 mph) in a circle, preferably over rough pavement or seams on the road surface. 4. Drive the vehicle straight ahead at idle speed while applying and releasing the brake pedal. Listen/feel the steering wheel for the clunk/noise condition. 5. If a clunk is felt in the steering wheel, the MOST likely cause is the I-shaft - not the steering gear. Continue with the correction. Correction DO THIS - Replace the intermediate shaft DON'T DO THIS - DO NOT lube the intermediate shaft Replace the existing intermediate shaft

I hear a loud grinding noise when i drive my car

Check front tyres & wheel bearings espesially the R/H/F. Feel tyre for high / low spots on inside & jack up & spin wheel if you get noise while jacked up it is not the tyres but wheel bearing or brake pads but more than likly a crook bearing by the sound of it. It needs to be tended to ASAP

Front-end vibration in my lincoln ls v8. you can only hear it when you go over 45 mph

I strongly suggest you check the lug nuts for tightness and if they are ok on your right front tire then go to a tire service center and have them balance and check the belts-either is very dangerous because it will A-fafall off or B-blow at high speed. Good luck!

While dose my 2002 lincoln ls make a roeing sound when i get over 40 miles per hour

See if you notice it getting louder and softer as you turn a little to the left or right while you are going at speeds that makes the noise. If so, it is a front wheel bearing.
