Magic Chef MCWC52B not running very long

Found the unit warm and unplugged it. Plugged it in again and it ran for about 30 minutes and then stopped before reaching desired temp. Is this a compressor failure or can I replace a part to get it back on line? it is 9 years old.

By the age of it, I would replce it. Not worth it to take a chance with wine and if it holds expensive wine then I rest my case.

I have a similar magic chef wine fridge, and have had the same loud popping noise every 15-20 minutes. Its model # MCWC52B. I have had 2 different repair people out to fix, and both have said call Magic...

I have practiced this tactic for years and it has never failed. Call Magic Chef and ask to speak to a management member that is in charge of repair issues. Explain to them the issue. Tell them that you don't want a repair tech any more, you would like them to ship you a comparable unit and replace the one that you have. They can come out with the new unit and take back the broken unit and repair it in their shop, trial and error and instruct their techs as how to repair these in the future. If they won't do that, ask to speak to their supervisor and keep going up the food chain. They will cooperate, trust me. Let us know how that works for you. Be frustrated and firm.

MCWC52B wine cooler stopped cooling, compressor hot

Turn it off and place a small electric fan by compressor to cool it down.
When you turn it back on, see if you hear a clicking noise. This would indicate starting components need checking.

the extension cord must be # 12 wire size for better and the gorund should not be removed . ( proper polirty is important . ) do replace the start relay and if you have a ohm meter ck it for open or short to ground before installing the relay . ( good power is best ..or a short compressor life is for sure .. mm
