Samsung LN-T4065F all of a sudden our samsung lcd LN-T4065F only has coloured verticals lines through the whole screen. Sometime when we try turning it on and off it just clicks like it's turning on and off. I was told if you remove the back pannel we may find capacitors that need to be replaced... is this the problem? It's not under warranty anymore, and samsung won't help us.

LCD is fragile screen, you screen may be damage even when your finger point in. If you still have warranty, claim for the replacement. Otherwise, if you are in OOW, it is costly if you want to replace the new one. So, you have bad luck then.
I read the suggestions regarding replacing four, slightly bulging 1000 microfarad capacitors. This solved the problem. When I removed the capacitors, I checked them with an ohmmeter and they were all showing low resistance (partly shorted). The suggestions in this blog saved me several hundred dollars and I am very grateful. I would not recommend Samsung again as I feel they are using inferior components. The TV is only two years old and I live in a temperate climate in the Pacific Northwest.
The problem is that the panel has failed. Apparently this is a common problem with LCD TV's between 18 mths and 3 yrs old. If it survives over 3 yrs it is likely to last for a few years longer. The cost of replacing the panel is more than a replacement TV!
