Maxi-Cosi central tension strap has been pulled out

We have a Maxi-Cosi forward facing car seat for our 2.5 yrs old son. The central strap that is pulled to tighten the straps around him has come out / been pulled out from the back. I can't get it fitted back in. Can I fix this? If so, how or should I take it back to a professional repairer?

Hi,

I would always suggest that you take this back to the retailer to have the part professionally repaired, or contact www.maxi-cosi.com who will be able to advise you.

I hope this helps.

Straps wont lentghen on my maxi cosi tobi

Hi
It may be dirt / debris such as crumbs in the tensioner housing unit. Try vacuuming the carseat, paying special attention to the tensioner housing unit (where the tensioner strap comes out of the carseat)
If this does not work, the carseat will need inspection and repair by our engineers.

If you're in the UK and the product is under 2 years old, please contact your retailer with your proof of purchase and they can arrange for it to be sent to our engineers for inspection / repair work required under warranty.

If you're in the UK and the product is over 2 years old or you no longer have proof of purchase please contact the customer care team on 01284 413 141 Mon-Thur 08:30-17:30 / Fri 08:30-16:30 (Excluding Bank Holidays) to discuss booking it in for chargeable inspection / repair work required.

If you're outside the UK please visit www.maxi-cosi.com and select the country you're in, then use the "Contact Us" tab on the right side for your enquiry to be sent through to the customer care team in your country.

Maxi Cosi Pria 70 ****** strap too tight

Make sure your son does not exceed the weight limits for the forward facing harness. Do not put your child in the harness wearing bulky clothing, but use a blanket or poncho in the car instead of a snowsuit or winter coat.

Problems tightening maxi Cosi priori fix car seat harness

Hi,

The harness should be pulled directly out from the carseat - it's easy to pull it up, or to the side, but this will effect how well you can tension the harness.

Its also worth giving the carseat a good vacuuming out, as any crumbs lodged in the tensioning unit can also make using the harness very difficult - regardless of whether your child eats in the seat, somehow there are always crumbs in there!

If none of this helps, the seat should come to our engineers for inspection. If you're in the UK and its under 2 years old, please contact your retailer with proof of purchase: If you're in the UK and its over 2 years old or you no longer have proof of purchase, please contact the customer care team on 01284 413 141 Mon-Thur 8.30-6.30 / Fri 8.30-4.30 (Excluding Bank Holidays) Chargeable inspection starts at 39.99GBP and this does include courier collection & delivery of the unit. If you're not in the UK, please visit www.maxi-cosi.com, select the country you're in and choose the "Contact Us" tab on the right side of the screen to be put in touch with the customer care team in your country.

Hi, i cannot get my maxi cosi to recline. can you offer any help with ideas?

Hi Lorna - Most commonly this issue is caused by dirt/debris getting caught in the tensioning strap of the harness and gradually pulled into the mechanism of the carseat over time. First recommendation is to remove carseat from the car and remove cover (do not remove harness system from seat) give the carseat fabric and the seat itself a clean and see whether this improves the recline situation. If not, please contact your customer services department - if you're in the UK this is 01284 413 141 Mon-Fri 8.30-4.30

Pulled tensioner on maxi cosi tobi now i cant release it back

Just did it. It took two of us, but only a couple of minutes and no tools (except a table knife) once we'd worked out what the problem was. The reason the strap doesn't thread easily through the slot is that there is a sprung two-part mechanism that needs to be held open. One person threads the strap through while the other keeps the mechanism open.

Person 1:

1) Find the slot under the chair that the strap goes into - turn the seat upside down; it's a thin gap you can feel with your fingertip when you run your finger along the narrow back of the metal strip under the front of the seat (not the base).

2) Remove the metal rod that attaches the grey reclining lever. The rod is about 20 cm long and can be pushed out without tools. Removing this rod seems to make it easier to open the buckle mechanism. When replacing the rod later, you just have to line it up carefully with holes (we used a torch to help us see them)

3) Make sure the strap passes under the metal rod at the bottom of the seat back (you can see how here in a small photo here: http://www.englishforum.ch/attachments/sale-wanted/37565d1327058634-sale-maxi-cosi-tobi-car-seat-9mths-3-yrs-zh-maxi_cosi_tobu_small.jpg)

Person 2

4) Push back buckle as far as it will go (it goes back past vertical easily, then needs another firmer push,

5) Hold the buckle in this backwards position.

6) Insert a table knife (rounded and blunt, not sharp) into the space under the buckle and push back the sprung, hinged plastic part that the knife touches at the back.

7) Person 1 then threads the strap back through the slot, pushing until then end comes out.

8) Tie a knot in the end of the strap so you don't accidentally pull it through again!

9) Replace the metal rod in the reclining mechanism.

10) Done!

Maxi-cosi tobi strap tensioner not working. able to tighten straps when child is in seat but when buckle is pressed to release straps and get child out, unable to loosen straps tensioner will not let go.

Hi, Make sure that when you go to loosen the shoulder straps that the **** strap is pulled toward you, otherwise you cannot make the shoulder straps loosen, this is a safety feature. Hope this helps.

Can't take off maxi cosi carseat cover, because grey strap at the bottom doesn't come loose.

Slack off the straps as far as possible and recline the seat. Open the strap guard door on the rear of the bit of the seat that reclines (Item 3 on diagram http://www.maxi-cosi.com/media/producthandleidingen/maxicosi/PrioriFix.pdf). The shoulder straps can be released from the metal clasp which is in here. You can now pull the straps through the back of the seatand release the cover.
