TV turns red,shuts off, stand-by light blinking 8Times
My screen is red, TV shuts off after 5-10 seconds & the Stand-by/timer light on the front of the TV is blinking 8 times, pauses, then blinks 8 times(red blinking light) we just adjusted the convergence about 3 months ago & the picture has been great! No warnings. It seems as tho the # of blinks is the code to the problem, do you know what the issue is? or what the 8blinks means? THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!

Can you unplug the TV for about 15 seconds, and then plug back in and watch the stand-by light. Tell me how many time the stand-by light blinks in regular intervals. If it doesn't blink at all, you need to change a fuse on the g-board. Once this is done run back through the stand-by blink light process, and more troubleshooting can be done if problem isn't already solved. If the stand-by light just keeps blinking with a count over ten just tell me, and I'll look for other possibilities.
Do you mean the screen turns on briefly or the stand by light just keeps blinking. If the tv turns off after switching on then it probably means a protection circuit fault. Also please provide me the number of times it blinks before it pauses. Awaiting your resposnse.
turn tv on picture comes up 2to3 seconds later tv blacks out then stand by red light flashes 4 times in a row repeatedly..can not turn on or off when stand by light starts flashing but before tv blacks out you can turn tv on and off repeatedly and picture and sound work.You have to unplug power cord for 30 seconds after stand by light comes on to get tv to turn on.
The blinking should be in a pattern of a count, pause, count. That is an indication of the problem circuit. Can you post that count please? That info will allow me to give you possible defective parts and costs for the repair.
A reset won't fix this. The standby light should be blinking a repeated count with a 3 second pause inbetween. Post that count here. That will indicate the circuit/condition that is preventing the set from turning on.
Check C514 next to flyback xformer.If shorted,burnt,replace with part # 1-161-754-00 102K / 3KV capacitor.May also have open 2 amp pico fuse in power supply......T
