At any rate, download, and install the Chipset drivers.
Need guidance in downloading AND installing the Chipset,
(Motherboard Chipset) drivers?
I need the Product Number of the HP or Compaq computer.
This can be found on the back of the computer, in the white Service Tag. P/N = Product Number
Also need to know what Operating System you are using.
Windows 2000?
Post back in a Comment.

[Let's take a look at a Motherboard Diagram, that fits the technology of that Asus K8S-LA (Salmon) mobo,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Motherboard_diagram.svgCPU = Central Processing Unit. Another term used is Microprocessor, or simply - Processor - for short.
As you can see the Northbridge chip, of the motherboard chipset; handles the Faster capabilities of a computer.
Processor, Ram Memory, and HIGH-speed graphics.
HIGH-speed graphics is AGP, and PCI Express.
A graphics card inserted into a PCI slot; or using Integrated Graphics; is NOT high-speed graphics.
The Southbridge chip of the motherboard chipset, handles the Slower capabilities of a computer.
A) The PCI bus. (And Integrated Graphics)
B) IDE bus
C) SATA bus
D) USB bus
E) Ethernet bus
F) Audio (Sound)
The Northbridge chip of the motherboard chipset, is a SiS 760.
The Southbridge chip of the motherboard chipset, is a SiS 964.
http://www.motherboards.org/mobot/chipsets_d/SiS/760+964/Chip and Chipset are slang terms for I.C.
Integrated Circuit,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_circuitDriver: A small piece of software that allows the Operating System to communicate with a device
Device in question is the Southbridge chip.
Operating System is Win2K (?) ]
