Attempting to print labels from a Monarch 9855 printer and receiving error message: "Print Head error 768." Printer was working fine as of last Friday. We have other Monarch 9855 printers that are on other computers that are working. The computers are laptops running Windows XP and connected to network wirelessly.

768 is a bad printhead. It could mean that your ph ribbon is disconnected from the ph, or you actually have too many bad dots to print.

Even if you could temporarily get a workaround for this issue, you will need to replace the printhead if your ribbon isn't disconnected. Contact the company to get a ph sent to you. 1-800-543-6650

Check to make sure the ribbon cable that connects to the printhead is actually connected. A 768 error means that the printhead isn't connected, or it's completely blown. The ribbon may just need to be seated correctly, or the printhead needs to be replaced.

Check print head #768

This is the error code stating that there are more than 8 print elements faulty and requires replacement.

However if the cabel to printhead is not installed correctly this can also give the same error - check it is fully connected.

We have a 9855 Monarch barcode Printer. We are

If the printer display just shows Ready, but doesn't print, there could be a few things wrong.

1 - no data is going to the printer
2 - data is going to the printer, but it is not the printer's native language
3 - cable connectivity issues
4 - wrong cable is being used
5 - if wireless, data is not going to the correct IP

If using a 3rd party application, make sure that you've chosen the correct Monarch printer, as well as printing to the correct port. Sometime people print to LPT instead of Serial, as an example.

If using 3rd party drivers, make sure of the same thing.

To see if the printer actually works, press both of the arrows on the display, at the same time, after the printer is at the ready screen. As long as have the printer configured correctly (ribbon, supply type, etc.), the printer should print out a couple of labels.

Different Crystal output from model 9835 and 9855 Monarchs

Your software wouldn't care whether it's a 9835 or a 9855. It can't even tell the difference. Are your supply settings and communications settings the same for both printers? Any error messages on the display when you print?

Print alignment problem. Prints across 2 lables. not sensing the black line on back of label roll.

As it turns out, a good cleaning took care of the problem. I suspect the sensor bar was dirty so it could not detect the black line on the back of the labels for alignment.

Thanks anyway!

9855 ribbon take up reel not working

When you're sending data to the printer you're sending a command that is telling the printer you're NOT using a ribbon. When the printer receives the data it's shutting off the ribbon. Check your software.
You should be set for THERMAL TRANSFER.(RIBBON)
THERMAL DIRECT Means NO RIBBON
