Where is the defrost timer located on GE model# GSS20IEMDWW side by side refrigerator? My freezer works but the other side is warm. I took the freezer panel off and it had a thick layer of frost everywhere. Possible defrost timer issue?

This model does not have a defrost timer. It has a motherboard. You must jump out the plug to the main board to test the defrost circuit. In order to do this take the cover off of the main board, find the three wire connector on the base of the main board, connecter is normally blue in color. On the board itself it will identify termials as line, defrost, and compressor. To test you must create a jumper wire.Install the jumper in the plug terminals identified as line and defrost. This will turn the defrost heater on. If the heater does not come on, look for a defective heater or a defrost thermostat(mounted on the top of the evaporator). If the heater does come on replace the thermister(located on top of evap, white in color and has two white wires part#WR55x10025)

Ge Gsh25jsxnss side x side fridge is not getting cold, took plate off & damper works fine, I don't see ne kind of fan, it goes straight 2 the freezer near the ice maker. freezer is cold & working fine

Evaporator fan motor has probably failed. p/n WR60X10185

It is located in the freezer section, behind the back panels inside, and under the icemaker. Remove the screws on the bottom panel in the freezer, remove the ice maker, auger motor, and panel. is is about center of the freezer.

GE side by side refrigerator not working properly. Fresh food side is warm. Freezer side is at 9 degrees. What could be the problem?

Check for ice buildup at back of freezer. If so then auto defrost mechanism is not working. Check for bad defrost timer, heater, and defrost thermostat.

Freezer not freezing

If freezer is icing up, you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.
You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model

Freezer freeze up

Your model TFX20JRBKWWW uses a defrost timer part number WR9X489 located behind the light shield in the fresh foods compartment. (top back area). Just in case you need to know, the defrost heater is a part number WR51X10101 located behind the back wall of the freezer.

GE Monogram Side by Side 42" Freezer light is lit on front panel.

The defrost timer is what I think you are asking. It is behind a cover near the light, The timer puts the fridge in defrost ever 6 to 8 hours. If the timer is bad it will stop the cycle of defrost and cause the freezer and the cold food section to warm spoiling the food and increase the freezer temp. Try turning the timer screw clockwise until you hear the fridge compressor stop. If after this listen for a crackling noise that will be the sound of defrost taking place. If doing this starts defrost, you will need to replace the timer.
