I took my laptop to Circuit City for them to fix and when it came back the audio was missing. All they were suppose to do was reinstall the operating system but they did more and the guy who worked on my computer actually messed it up even more. I have a Compaq Presario V5000. I went to the Compaq site and tried to download the driver (Conexant Function Audio Driver) but after it downloaded i encountered the problem with installing. I got past the terms of agreement but then a dialogue box with (Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the MEDIA device for this driver) popped up and now I dont know what to do to make my computer go back to normal HELP!!!!!!!!!
Is the driver for your chipset installed? where did you find the V5000 number? actually, dont trust what you see in front of the laptop, you have to look at the back of it.. here's a link of V5000 http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=499847&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en
Please right click on mycomputer go to properties then hardware then device manager then update driver then give path from c-program file audio driver XP then it will take driver and work fine
