Screen is a darker black on one side compared to other side
One half of my Toshiba 56" DLP is a darker black than the other. When the tv is turned on and the screen is black there is a distinct line down the middle where one side is a darker black than the other. Is this a sign of my bulb going bad??

The color wheels will never fix an issue like that. The only things that will cause that issue is a bad DMD board which is part of the light engine or the digital board which is not. Freak Squad need to replace the digital board.
If you're seeing a shadow either vertically or at an angle the most common/probable cause is the light tunnel in the light engine. I have this same problem with my ru-44sz51d and have found many people with similar problems. For reference search "dlp light tunnel" as many samsung dlp's are suffering from the same problem and have been since they were purchased. You should be able to repair this yourself, but only if you feel comfortable and are knowledgable in such a situation. The repair may consist of replacing any number of the 4 or so mirrors or just reapplying the silicone adhesive to the original mirror. As I have not done this yet myself I can only speculate and refer to topics I've read about. Good luck
