You can change your Windows 7 Desktop photo, also called wallpaper quickly and easily. If you like variety, you can alternate photos and settings on your computer display as well. It takes very little effort, time and computer knowledge to do change your Microsoft Windows Desktop appearance.
Bring up your Microsoft Windows 7 Desktop. Let all the software load completely. You will know it is done when all icons appear in your Windows task bar in the lower left hand corner. Right click (opposite of left click) once on a blank space on your Desktop where there are no icons. This will display a properties menu. Choose personalize from the menu that appears. Notice the different categories of wallpaper that appear. Choose the one you like best. Wallpapers are displayed as tiny icons but you can double-click to see a full image. Click a folder, such as pictures if you would like a picture or wallpaper from your own collection or the Internet. Windows 7 will save this background in your collection for future reference. Check the box that says change picture and choose amount of time you would like the wallpaper in Windows 7 to be displayed. This step is optional. Select picture position. Here you may have to experiment until you find one that fits your screen (resolution) the best. Choose what looks best for you, do not get caught up in the numbers or labels. Hope this helps.

Open up any of your picture folder. Right-click on the picture thumbnail or picture icon that you want to make your desktop background and select "set as desktop background". I hope this will work for you.
if you mean changing your wallpaper, do the following (assuming your operating system Windows XP any version)
1. Right click on your Desktop (any part of your background but not on icons) then click Properties.
2. then click the Desktop tab. From there you can choose any background picture or click Browse and locate to the folder where your desired picture is saved.
3. Click Apply button when you have selected your background picture.
4. Then click OK to close the Display properties window
Because Micro$oft wants you buy everything from them, Windows XP
wants theme files to be digitally signed. If they aren't then XP won't
let you use the themes.
You must first patch your uxthemes.dll file in your C:\Windows\System32 directory. This can be easily done using the Uxthemes Patch which you can download here.
The
patch supports Windows XP, SP1, SP2, XP 64 bit and Windows Server 2003.
Run the patch, it will "fix" your uxtheme.dll file so you can use 3rd
party visual styles. Disregard any warnings about files being changed,
that is what we want to do. After you run the patch reboot your
computer.
Note: We recommend you create a restore point before running the patch
just for good measure. We did not author this file we have used it our
selves with no problems, use it at your own risk.
Install the XP Theme Files
Themes are usually downloaded as a .zip file which must first be
scanned using a virus scanning program, then unzipped to a temporary
folder you can create on your desktop.
Inside that folder you will most likely find a wallpaper image,
.msstyles file, a .theme file and possibly a font file. it all depends
on what the author has chosen to include in their theme package.
If your theme package contains one or more font files (.ttf) copy them to your C:\Windows\Fonts\ folder.
You may also find one or more .theme files (like axis.theme. Copy it/them to your C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\ folder. You will see a folder called Luna already in there, leave that alone, it is your existing Micro$oft XP Theme.
Locate the .msstyles file, create a folder in the C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\ folder, I usually name it what the .msstyles file is named (like axis.msstyles so the folder would be axis).
If you find a file called ShellStyle.dll, create a folder called Shell inside the first folder you created. Create another folder inside that called NormalColor. Copy ShellStyle.dll into the NormalColor folder.
Most of the time you will unzip the file and everything will be properly ordered and only need to be copied to your C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\ folder.
To install the wallpaper copy the wallpaper image file to your My Pictures folder.
How to Use the XP Theme
While in your My Pictures folder that contains your
wallpaper, click on the wallpaper file once to highlight it. In the
menu on the left side of the window you will see at the top Picture Tasks. Click on Set as desktop background. You should see the wallpaper on your desktop.
If the wallpaper needs to be stretched to fill the screen close the My Pictures window. Right click on the desktop, select Properties. The Display Properties window comes up, choose the Desktop tab. Your wallpaper should be highlighted in the list, using the Position box choose if you want it Tiled, Centered or Stretched.
While in Display Properties if your theme had a .theme file select the Themes tab and select your theme from the list. If your theme only had a .msstyles file go to the Appearance tab and select your theme from the Windows and Buttons list.
After you are done making your choices you can go to the Themes tab and save your theme by clicking Save As..., and then name it something.
That's all there is to it and all without buying any programs.
first save any pictures that you want to use for background or wallpaper then on your desktop (its where you can see you icons) right click then choose properties and you will see display properties, choose the desktop tab, you can then choose the background that you want or click browse if you have a specific picture or image that you have saved that you want to make as your background
I see...from what I understood you want to download a picture from the internet and use it as a wallpaper on the screen of the computer ...nothing more easy ... forst ..not all pictures from the internet can be downloaded but most do ....to make the most ..you need to open the picture into the larger size...after that right click on it to see if it has the feature for download....Usually this will apear something like :save picture as... when you do this it will ask ya to choose a location on your computer for it ... you canalready use it as a background..but in the minute that will not find it ..the suport for the wallpaper will be no longer viable...so ...first download...than go to the location you choose for it ...than just right clkick on the picture and it will be a line that says use it as a background...or ...set as wallpaper ..this is it.. all pics into your computer can be use this way ...and you can also manage them by right click on desktop...choosing properties...and than desktop...there will be more features for desktop...but the way I described its the straight and simple one
Hi there, if you access the display properties (Right click anywhere on the desktop and choose 'Properties') then goto the 'Desktop' tab and browse through the available wallpapers. When you choose one you like, click once on it so it is previewed in the screen above the list, then choose Apply followed by Ok on the bottom of the window.
If you wish to put on any custom wallpaper, simply browse for it using the 'Browse' button to find the folder containing the image you want.
Another direct way to do this is to simply right click on an image you have stored on your PC and choose "Set as desktop background".
