Need to operate a Motorola HDDSR600 Sat Receiver with a 3.4IR EchoStar Remote. Can the remote be programmed for this receiver??

The Remote has Learning Mode - change the operation of the remote to Learning Mode and program the key buttons appropriately by pressing buttons on the receiver with remote pointed at the receiver

The sat receiver remote will operate your tv. read the manual.

Is the remote for TV 1 or TV 2. If it is for TV 2, the blue tab with the number 2 should already be on the bottom of the remote. If it's for TV 1, you need to remove the blue tab from the bottom of the remote and flip the tab over (should be a green tab with only a green 1 on it). Once you change the tab, see if you can change channels. If you can't, follow the instructions below.

At your TV 1 location on your receiver, press the System Info button to display the System Info on your TV. At the bottom of the screen, you should see Primary and Secondary Remote Addresses. Make a note of the remote addresses. With the new remote, press the record button. If this is the TV 2 remote (blue tab on the bottom), the secondary number may change; if TV 1 remote (green tab on the bottom), the primary address should change. Exit from all the menus on the TV screen till you are back to your TV picture - then try the remote.

If the above steps do not work, try the instructions below to manually program the remote to the receiver.

• Remote to the receiver:
  1. Go to System Info screen.
  2. Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
  3. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
  4. Press the pound (#) button.
  5. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record. Note: If successful, the number selected in step 3 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.

If you are trying to get the remote programmed to the receiver you can remove the smartcard from the receiver and that will prompt the system info screen. This will allow you to program the remote to the receiver.

If you need the process for programming the remote, here it is:

1. Go to System Info screen (in this case -- obtain by removing smartcard from receiver)
2. Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
3. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
4. Press the pound (#) button
5. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record.

I have provided instructions on how to readdress the remote to your receiver. If this doesn't work, we may need to replace the remote. I hope this helps.

try the folowing:Press menu -menu on the receiver. You should be able to see the remote address for the receiver. It will typically be set to 1 if it reset somehow but whatever the case make note of this number. Take the remote and hold the SAT button until all lights across the top illuminate. Now key in the two digit address- single digit numbers are preceded by a 0. Now press the pound sign in the lower right of the remote and observe that the SAT button flashes thrice. Now press the record button a few time to ensure it is locked. Now try exiting the menu screen with the remote.

You probably just need to set the remote address on the remote to that on the receiver.

Press menu twice on the front panel of the receiver and you should be able to see the remote address displayed. If not just press and hold the SAT button down on the upper left of the remote until all lights light up across the top and release. Now key in 0-1 and press the pound sign. Check the manual to see if there is an automatic code search feature for your Toshiba. It may be easier to program your directv remote to operate your toshiba. You may not get the full use from either remote, but its worth a shot

How to Program a EchoStar Remote Control
Instructions

Step1
Ensure that the remote control has new batteries installed. If you are not sure or have been using the device for a while, go ahead and insert fresh batteries. You need four AAA batteries.
Step2
Locate the mode buttons on the controller. You will see SAT, AUX, TV, and VCR. SAT stands for the satellite receiver. Your remote is automatically set up to work with your EchoStar receiver, and you do not need to program it for this function. AUX may refer to a cable television device or an audio device that hooks it into your stereo system. TV refers to your television set. VCR may be chosen to control a standard VCR or a DVD player.
Step3
Press the mode button that corresponds with the device which you want to control with the EchoStar remote control. For example, if you want to program the remote to control the TV, press down the TV mode button.
Step4
Turn on the device. This is the item you want to control with the EchoStar remote. You may need to do so manually or with its own remote control. In this example, you would turn on your television set with its own control.
Step5
Press down the EchoStar mode button for the device again, but this time hold it down for three seconds. You are going to notice that all the other mode buttons are going to flash on. Aim the remote at the device you want to control.
Step6
Depress the EchoStar remote power button briefly and then slowly click either the up or the down arrow button. You are performing a code scan that allows the remote control to run through all the preprogrammed codes that are stored in its memory. Proceed slowly and do not hurry this process. It may take a few minutes, but it is virtually foolproof.
Step7
Stop when the appliance you want to control with the EchoStar remote control suddenly turns off. You have hit upon the correct code, and if you save it now, your remote will be able to use it in the future to control the functions of the item.
Step8
Store the code in the EchoStar remote control’s memory by pressing the pound button. You will notice that the corresponding mode button is going to flash, acknowledging the programming choice. You are now ready to control the item with the EchoStar remote control.
