LG RHT497H. Great for 2 years now delays when switching on. I get the Hello message but takes ages to actually switch on. Initially only a few minutes, took half an hour today.

What make ,model an year vehicle ? This is for a Cadillac !
Twilight Sentinel
The twilight delay switch in the headlamp switch assembly is supplied a 5 volt reference from the instrument panel integration module (IPM). The IPM also provides ground to the twilight delay switch. The switch is a potentiometer in which the resistance varies as the switch is moved. The IPM receives an input voltage proportional to the resistance of the potentiometer through the twilight delay signal circuit. The IPM sends a class 2 message to the dash integration module (DIM) indicating the on/off status and delay length for the twilight sentinel. With the twilight sentinel switch in any position other than OFF, the DIM will turn the headlamps on or off according to the daytime/nighttime status sent by the IPM. The DIM uses the twilight delay signal in order to keep the headlamps and park lamps on after the ignition switch transitions from ON to OFF during nighttime conditions.

there may be a faulty capacitor for the compressor motor
I would suggest a technician check it out as it should come back working within minutes of a power cut
there will be a short delay until the pressures even out as compressors have difficulty starting under pressure but you delay is extreme and needs checking out.

I scanned the entire manual for your recorder and found no mention of simultaneous dvr functions as you specified, so I have no choice but to say no you cannot...sorry...

Do you mean the LG RHT497H DVD recorder with hard disc drive?

You probably have the wrong cable, plugged in the wrong jacks. At the rear of the LG you can see the s-video connector and the 2 RCA audio connectors( white and red) - they are on horizontally lined on a printed box. Take 2 cables (an s-video one and a 2-headed RCA one) , plug them in there then go to the tv and look in the rear connectors panel for another box that has all of them(again set on a line) plug the cables there and select the AV entry labeled in the box.
Since you didn't provided the exact model of your tv i can't be very precise but the remote of this recorder is very limited, it has the codes just for a very few numbers of tv's - and only for new models
(less than 2 years). If your tv is older or an not big brand one then it's not supported, you will have to use another universal remote to control both.

I have the LG DVD recorder DRT389H which has the same problem. You can't switch off the subtitles during timer recording from the Electronic Programme Guide. The only way I could stop this was to go to the main set-up menu then select the A icon. Select DTV Subtitle and choose a language that the TV programme isn't broadcast in. I chose Gaelic. The only disadvantage is that this stops any subtitles being recorded so you can't access them later.

He may be right, LG is used to be called GOLD STAR, which makes junky electronic products, they changed the name to make it sounds better.

DO you have 24 Volts at the out door unit from the thermostat?
If so trace these 2 wires down. Both Will eventually go the what we call the contactor. While tracing down these 2 small wires see all the items they go to. You could have a High pressure switch (usually has a manual reset button on it) a low pressure switch, a delay timer and maybe a few other items I cant think of at the moment.

Usually the High pressure switch is the only one that has a manual reset. Where the button is depends on who made the switch. If its a red plastic body type the button will be on 1 end. If its metallic and rectangular it button will be about 1/4 inch long and protruding down 1 side of the rectangular box. Both of these type switches have a copper tube or a screw on mounting that allows the switch to sence the pressure on the out door coil (or if a heat pump it will be on the line on the compressor that goes to the out door coil or to the reversing valve).
