Missing headset Port on Air FLo Controller I want to wire a mic directly

If you are using a Mac computer your Plantronics .Audio headset will not work The microphone plug on the .Audio analog headsets is not compatible with a Mac. It will physically fit into the Mic input jack on a Mac; however, it will not function. Basically, the digital sound card does not recognize the analog signal coming in from the headset.

Have you tested the headsets on a PC? Just plug the USB into a PC and double check if the microphone is working.

If it isn't and you bought the headsets less then 12 months ago you can e-mail Tritton/MadCatz for a spare microphone.

Try to charge it on a USB on the PC, If the red light doesn't stay on, meaning it's charging, then you have a faulty headset and you'll have to contact your retailer to ask for a replacement.
Unfortunately this is a know issue with this headsets...

Do you have the chat cable connected?

Is the mic turned off on the inline volume controller?

Is the Chat volume turned up on the inline volume controller?

Test the microphone on a PC by plugging in the USB into a PC and test if it works.

If it doesn't then you can ask for a spare microphone from TRITTON / Madcatz.

If the mic works on the PC then the problem might be with the chat cable which you can also ask from TRITTON or Madcatz.

Check your cable for breaks or fraying. It sounds like your mic's cable is broken, and needs to be replaced. Mad catz should send you a replacement under warranty when you call them.

What happens if you try your X1 on a PC instead of on your Xbox? That's a good test of the mic... Here's how:
- Plug the X1 USB into a USB port on your PC. - Plug the X1 green plug into the green Line Out jack on your PC. - Plug the X1 pink plug into the pink Microphone jack on your PC.
Try recording the sound of your own voice on the PC, using Sound Recorder or whatever. Do you hear the sound of your voice? If so, your mic is working and the X1 chat/controller cable is probably broken. Replace the chat/controller cable.
If not, then the X1 mic is broken and you should contact Turtle Beach for service at [email protected].

Can you try using the X1 mic on your PC? Green plug to green jack, pink plug to pink jack, USB plug to USB port. Talk into the X1 mic. Can you hear your voice? If yes, then you probably have a bad chat-controller cable. If no, then your X1 mic may not be working. If that's the problem, you should contact Turtle Beach tech support for help. Your jack may have been damaged, or the apple mic may not be compatible. Purchase another pc compatible mic to check. Or you could try a multimedia headset with mic that plugs into your usb port. Take a look at RadioShack for headsets, I saw one in a store near me. and they should have them online.

How long have you owned this mic? I am a recording engineer, so I have seen any kind of damage to mics you can think of. Headset mics are a little more susceptible to high-volume damage (especially game console mics, usually due to intensity of the game!) I have never dealt with Mad Catz customer support directly, but sadly, in most cases the unit needs to be replaced.
