No you must go www.dell.com and download according with your model, give the service tag very important, and download according your version that you have + download the Chipset update.

You can also check to see if it is enabled in the BIOS.

Start Laptop and when you get to the HP splash screen tap F10 to get into the BIOS.

If you have a BIOS password put that in, then the main BIOS screen will appear.

Click on the ADVANCED tab.
Click on the "Built-In Device Options"
Check to make sure that these 3 settings ARE checked.
Wireless Button State
Embedded LAN Controller
LAN/WAN Switching

!Remember to save before you exit!

Log back in and hopefully you're Wifi will be enabled.

If It still does not work, you can check to see if the Drivers are installed in Device Manager

Hi navy nano what we you need to to do is call DELL then provide your service tag number. they will give you code to crack the BIOS password to the mainboard. DELL do have a toll to reset the BIOS in the laptop and its a proprietary tool. Once done you should be able to use the laptop again .Thanks

Oh dear that's the worst thing that can happen during a bios update. the bios chip is probably now useless rendering the laptop useless. You will need a new motherboard I am afraid to say.

PLEASE CHECK IN DEVICE MAMAGER IF WAN CARD IS DETECTED OR NOT IF IT IS NOT UPDATE THE LATEST WAN DRIVERS FROM SUPPORT.DELL.COM IF IF STILL NOT ABLE TO DETECT GO TO SUPPORT SITE SEARCH FOR MANUALS OF THE PRODUCT RESEAT THE WAN CARD AND TRY IT AGAIN , IF STILL NOT WORKING WAN CARD HAS GONE BAD CHANGE THE WAN CARD ,
IF WAN CARD IS DETECTED IN DEVICE MANAGER JUST UPDATE THE LATEST DRIVERS AND TRY IT AGAIN AFTER RESTARTING THE COMPUTER ,

Go into the setup/BIOS and disable the wan/lan switching feature.

standby can sometimes not work because of hardware incompatibility. easy way is not to use it, or use hibernation instead.
if you insist using it, you can try to updae the bios or reset the bios or unplug all usb devices and pci cards and try to see what cause the error.
