Yellow hue I hooked up my monitor to my new Dell computer and everything (brightnes and color) worked well for the first month. Lately, I have a yellow hue that is very upsetting (not bright and depressing). I am running the new Vista operating system. I have checked the monitor cabel to make sure I didn't have any bent pins. Can you help me?? thanks!

Hi,

My name is Todd and I'm with Dell's online outreach group.  Have you tried hooking that monitor up to another system to see whether it's the monitor itself or the system causing the problem?

Is the color distortion always there, or is it only happening at certain times or with certain applications or programs?

Let me know if you're able to try this monitor on another system, or another monitor with this system.  If not, we can try a few different things to test it.

Thank you,

Todd

I get a pop up with a RED CONTRAST screen every few minutes It sometimes goes away if I push the contrast button on my Dell monitor. but it will usually come right back. I have tried everything to stop...

You can try the monitor on another computer to verify it is the monitor and not the display card at fault.

I'm assuming this is an LCD monitor. If you are sure the monitor is the problem, then your monitor's display driver circuit is probably getting close to failing. When one of the three colors (red, green, blue) becomes intermittent, the screen takes on the hue of the working colors. In your case it sounds like the blue is starting to fail.

A repair technician may be able to replace the circuit.

It went this greenish yellow hue

Try resetting the monitor to defaults if possible. If you still have the greenish yellow hue then at that point, try another known working monitor on the computer, if the hue goes away then you know the original monitor is bad, if you still have the greenish yellow hue then you know the video card is bad.

Monitor gets a blue hue

Hey Tricky Cat!

My first advice would have been the cable...since that did not resolve it it can only be 1 of two other things...the video card (might be intregrated on your motherboard)...or the monitor.

To test plug in another monitor if you have one. If the problem resolves it is the monitor...if not then the video card.

You will have to way your expenses to fix...usually a monitor is cheaper to replace...as well as a video card. If it is integrated the cheapest route is to buy a new video card and turn off the old one in the BIOS.

Good luck my friend.

Screen color is purple

if you have access to another monitor use if to verify the monitor is the problem and not the video card of the computer.
does the monitor allow you to adjust color and tint(hue) because the tint or hue control changes the overall color from green to purple. or the color control circuit has failed leaving you stuc with a purple screen.

Everything has a yellow tinge.

Have you tried giving it a good tap on the side? Hey its worked before. Have you tried hooking it to another machine to verify "yellow." Was it yellow on your friends computer? How old is the monitor? Good Luck, Tim
