Epson printers will not accept another cartridge fitted in a particular slot, that's why it says 'cannot recognise cartridge'. Each colour has a colour specific chip fitted - to stop people accidentally fitting a colour in a wrong slot. What your printer is telling you is absolutely normal...

I have a 730. Paper load Tray is below receiving tray. It holds multi size small paper too.

Epson will have the manuals and the drivers for supported OS versions for the Artisan 730 on their support site. Most of the manuals are in a PDF format so you will need to Adobe Reader or a similar program. The rest of the manuals are HTML files that you can read in you browser. If you want the all-in-one to be fully functional, make sure to install the Epson software prior to connecting the printer to the computer if you use a USB connection. (If you have already connected the USB cable, you'll need to disconnect the cable and uninstall the printer.)

Please add a comment with more information on whether you are using a USB cable or connecting to a wireless network. If you are using a network, you may have an issue with your firewall. If you are connecting to a USB port on a router that has a print server function (or a stand-alone print server), you need to install the printer as a local USB printer on the computer first. (Not all print servers are compatible with all USB printers. You probably will lose the scan to email or scan to computer functions with any print server.)

Try printing a test page, which shows a sample of the colors in the ink cartridge individually, usually yellow, cyan and red. It may be that the blue ink is getting low. You did not say whether you were printing text (black) or photos (color).

My husband adjusted the CD/DVD tray, then we selected the icon that looks like a wrench on the printer's message window, then "restore default settings" on it. Turned computer off then on again, and it FINALLY started working again :)
