Turn on the camera, Go to settings and format the memory card, then do a factory reset of the camera itself.

When switching camera on there is a blank screen

In settings, you might have switched off the image for when the camera starts. Turn it back on. Also, if that doesn't work, try deleting some photos or change the sim card or the battery itself, not charge it.

If I accidently deleted my photos, can I retrieve the pictures somehow?

The answer is YES if the deleted photos are not overwritten(if you continue taking more photos or put more files to the external memory). Do it as follows.

First things first: DO NOT take any more photos with the memory card(within your camera) that you want to recover photos from. Take the card out of your cam and put it in a safe place. Because if you take any more files or save any data to your memory card, you may quite possibly ruin your chances of recovery.

Then Connect the card to your computer as it should appear as a "Removable Drive" or put the card in a card reader attached to your PC.

Next, if you are comfortable with using a PC then you can download a photo recovery utility that will recover your pictures with this software called Wondershare Photo Recovery (I once used this program bounded with some other software) from the following link(the program also recover videos and music files):

Photo Recovery for Windows (if you are running Windows OS)
Photo Recovery for Mac (for Apple Mac OS X)

Remember - Do NOT try & write anything back to your camera(memory card) until you can recover the files safely!

I accidentally deleted the photos on my camera. Is there a mechanism to retrieve deleted files on the camera. Please help?

I have had success with this... Download this photo recovery program
http://www.asoftech.com/apr/

You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Start" and wait for it to do it's magic.

My new i1236 Polaroid digital camera will turn

1) The card could be write protected, check the side of the card see if there's a small notch to slide up or down.

2) The camera could have photo protection option switched on, you have to go through the user manual and the camera menu to switch that off.

3) If you don't get too far with the first options, as its new, take it back to the vendor and ask them to demonstrate it to you and to your satisfaction. If there is a problem with the camera, request a replacement or refund under warranty.

Blank LCD screen on shooting mode, but does show settings. Will not take pictures. Replaying mode works, shows pictures taken before screen went blank. New batteries. What is going on??? Is it...

The Display button manually turns the LCD display on or off to save batteries. If you accidentally had turned the LCD off, It should only take one press of the button to turn it back on and leave it that way. As such, it's not you but the camera. The A570 IS is relatively new. Your camera is likely still under warranty. If so, contact Canon for warranty repair (see the following link):

Missing Pictures

You may have chosen the delete from camera option. When you transfered the photos.

Have a closer look at the options when you download the next lot of photos, some times there is a tick box for delete while transfering.
