The Cause of Problem:

The Power Buttons electrical circle sometimes just braked it by one of sensors and the result is the 2 beeps and Power Supply is in protected mode error.

The whole computer is turn off but the power button is turn on and this is the nub of the matter. Because if you want turn on the computer you can't because already turn on but just the Power button and you can't do anything.

The solution:
You need just change the Power Supply and don't do anything just the power cable put into the Power Supply after turn off computer.
Finaly change back the Power Supply.

SOURCE: system boots to a blank screen

Do this unit have the features to restore using a restore disc? If yes then you have to restore it using this. It will be back to a factory setting just like when it is new. All save files and added program will be erased and deleted.

Or if it have an options for repair choose that.
Try hitting Pause when system start up so that you can read the boot options.

If not then try to boot and choose the option REPAIR from your operating system installer disc.

Sony vaio VGN-A17GP not booting- 1 green light 2 amber are shown

Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery, Remove the cover that houses the memory then remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set itaside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If itboots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and putit into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

Laptop powers on fine , I can go into and change BIOS settings and everything is fine.. After the COMPAQ post screen the laptop wont boot from any media what so ever. It just displays a blank black...

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive
Test the leads that attach to your ((hard drive from the motherboard)) or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your ((motherboard to hard drive))
or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

hope this helps

Remove printer drivers

You can check your laptop further by booting it from Safe Mode. To boot your computer in Safe Mode, try to tap continuously F8 function key on your keyboard immediately when you start your computer. It will lead you to an Advanced Menu from where you can choose the option "Safe Mode" and hit enter to boot your computer to safe mode. Now try to check the display driver in the device manager (Control Panel >System > Hardware >Device Manager) If it is not there, try to reduce the screen resolution and reboot your computer to the normal mode. If you are still getting the blank screen in Normal mode, try to boot computer back in Safe Mode and try to restore your computer to earlier time when it was working fine for you. To do so click on Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next. On the Select a Restore Point page, click the most recent system restore point in the "On this list, click a restore point" list, and then click Next. Now confirm the restoration and click on Next to complete the restoration and follow the wizard.

I have a problem with hp dv9000.. the operating system wont boot.. even wen i insert any booting disk, it shows the first screen with hp and its logo and then it becomes blank.. i presume my harddisk is...

Try going to the bios and reset the bios to load factory defaults and then reboot. If the same thing happens try taking the hard drive out and reboot, if the same thing happens again its not your hardrive because it would say no boot disk after post. Iam guesing it may be a bios fault because after the logo it goes blank not while loading the os(operating system).

Give this a try and post back your findings.

Turn on Laptop gets to desktop with icons then screen goes blank

By "where I want to go", do you mean going on the internet? If all you are getting is a blank screen, then you have the "about:blank" virus. Go here, print out the instructions, and read them well. Then read them again and follow them closely. At one time I had it on a desktop system and the instructions worked just fine.

Blank Screen

sounds like the mother board is failed..try one more thing..remove battery, run on power supply only, and see if that helps..otherwise, it's motherboard replacement time.

Have you tried pressing F8 on boot-up and log into safe mode under administrator, no password, and right click on any empty space on the desktop, left click on properties, left click on settings, select a lower resolution,( e.g. 1024X768 ) select apply, select ok, reboot, log in as normal
