DVD's will no longer play

I own a Samsung DVD - V4600 combo unit. While the VCR is still running great - the DVD part will no longer play anything! All I keep getting is a message on the screen that says - disc cannot play - check disc. Even the ones that USED to play keep giving the same message. Can someone help me figure out whats happening?

Using your DVD-V4600, how do you play a vhs tape on TV? Need step by step instructions.

Hi,
In order to watch either DVD or VHS on your TV ,you need to make the following connections ..
  • You need to connect "DVD Player / VCR Combo" to" TV " as (Audio/video output of DVD Player / VCR Combo -TO- Audio/Video input of TV) ..
  • use either "RCA analog (red/white +yellow ) " or "SCART "or "Optic " cable.(any standard optical cable )...if exist ,optic is the best way to connect it..Remember your DVD Player / VCR Combo 's "OUT" goes into" IN "of the TV ..
  • pls also remember, wherever you connect your DVD Player / VCR Combo on your TV ,you should switch the source selector accordingly to correspond to the connection on the back...
Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know.
Take care and please

My DVD/VHS combo remote control no longer activates the unit. I have replaced the batteries (2 times). What should I do next?

Hi,

Good day. You might need to purchase another remote control so that you can access your dvd / vhs combo. I'm afraid that the remote is already broken due to normal use. You can also try to have a technician to check it for you but i suggest you bring it to a samsung authorized service center. Hope this give you a bit of help. Have a great day.

MY SAMSUNG DVD+VIDEO COMBO V4600

What you're describing is a common problem for this particular unit, a bad spindle motor. In some cases the motor can be removed by the tech and torn down for cleaning.. But in a high percentage of cases shops just replace the motor... What's happening, as your symptom appears the spindle motor is beginning to spin irratically. In turn the picture can sometimes just drop out. In others it simply folds over and is unwatchable. The spindle motor is not too expensive.. Good Luck Bill

Samsung DVD/ VCR combo v4600 video wont come up

if the dvd played sound but not the video then its not the laser pickup assy for sure. if the vcr had a oicture then that means all your cables are connected correctly. Now what it sounds likje is the video switcher IC in the controller circuit or in the dvd circuit the D to A converter went south. The only way to troubl;e shoot this would be to get a service manual/schematic and a scope to trace where you lose your video. im sure you dont wanna spend 4oo bucks or more for a scope so maybe just maybe it may be worth for a reoair oerson to diagnoise the unit. Its all up to you. Good Luck
