Where did you bought your phone? if you bought it from a telecom's promo it means that your phone is locked to a single network provided only. you can ask a technician to have your phone OPENLINE for you to be able to use any kinds of sims.
if it's not the case, check the slot for sim and make sure that the sim is properly placed. restart it without the sim and then restart again but now with the sim.

Your n70 is no longer connection at the telecommunication company! they cut off all the lines! you are blocked! if you want to use it again! reformat your N70! or they can change the CPU IC!
My nokia 5800 was saying offline because i took the sim card out,u must make sure ur sim card is inline with the picture on the back that shoud solve the problem

Hey guys! this is the way on how to fix your problem, if your phone shown offline mode, try to turn it off, pull out the sim card, then clean it, (just wipe a clean cotton) then, put it back (the simcard) wait for a few sec. then turn it on. after the nokia logo, it shown the offline mode again, (dont worry, just click the NO) 2 the right key. then problem solve=-)

Hi, thanks heaps for your advice, the cpu ic where is it located as I have a few motherboards of nokia n70 so i could swap it over would that work as one of the boards was unlocked, but the lcd connector snapped so i cant use it
Nokia N70 stuck offline. Have completed a full reset but continues to be offline. Won't connect to pc. Keeps saying "insert sim" Wont allow profile change at all. Really appreciate your help.

I also facing the same problem. I am using 3G sim card. Last month eveytime 3G coverage detected, my N70 went offline. Then I install new sim card from the Telco company. Yesterday my N70 went offline again, after a few minutes talk. Everytime I tried to change the profile, the massage "insert the sim card" appeared. I've tried few methods that been suggested, but to no avail.

To those who look at this & say "Oh just change the profile" keep your mouth firmly shut, switch off the computer, & throw it out of a window...
To those who might be able to help.
It's pretty much the same thing as everyone else, I was using the phone, it switched off & then turned back on in offline.
Now you cannot change it from offline. I have even gotten the Nokia PC suite to try & fix it, & because of the sim card issue, you can't get the software updates.
I struggle to believe this isn't possible to solve!
