My Nokia N70 cellphone suddenly becomes offline

Make sure, that your mobile phone is not country code locked.. Moreover, The SIM jacket is intact and there is no physical damage at the jacket's location.. Also make sure that the SIM card, you are using is valid, and is not physically damaged (You can double check it by putting it to some other working cellphone).
Concerned.

remove the sim, battery, and memory card then clean your sim with eraser then try it on. if problem continues try a new sim and if not work again no other solution but to consult a technician.

have you ever heard about resetting?

´just do a reset on your cellphone by pressing:

*#7780#
put your security code wich will probably be 12345 if you never changed it.

getting offline in the sense if u not put ur sim inside the cell it turns to offline mode. and again after v put the sim inside it asks whether to continue in offline or not. u need to give No..try it out..

When sim IC of phon get defective it shows offline mode in N-70 because N-70 is BB5 phone and without indefication of sim it allows user to access it's file,player and camera. N-70 offline mode is hence it's sim IC problem and that IC needs to be replaced. Replacing ICs in mobile phone needs some skill and hot air blower machine. It is advisable to give this job to skilled technician. He can do this job and you have to pay little for it. It will work 100% and will fix your problem. Vote fixya for that...&....Enjoy. 1. You have to hold down the power button for a few seconds before it will turn on.

2. Did it suddenly stop working or has it never worked before?

3. You posted this in the GPS section. You'll have better luck getting an answer in the cellphone section.

where did you bought your phone? if you bought it from a telecom's promo it means that your phone is locked to a single network provided only. you can ask a technician to have your phone OPENLINE for you to be able to use any kinds of sims.
if it's not the case, check the slot for sim and make sure that the sim is properly placed. restart it without the sim and then restart again but now with the sim.
