When connected to someone on my list, I see them very well but they
can't see me. Can see myself ok on video check from tools menu.
When selecting to open the "Video" tab, I'm told that it quickly flashes on their end and goes off. On my end, I get a small black window that
says it can't detect camera.
Audio works just fine both ways.
Reloaded software and same problem exists.
Using Microsoft LifeCam VX 5000.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

See section C. Windows Live
Messenger in the info below to setup the Audio & Video.
Also send this to your family
and friends so they have their computer setup properly.
Web Camera’s have to be
setup on the program they are to be used with.
Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to
broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for
the Audio and Video to function properly.
A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/)
set it up as follows:
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to
see and her to you.
B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://ca.messenger.yahoo.com/download/
) set it up as follows:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=d78f2ff1-79ea-4066-8ba0-ddbed94864fc&displaylang=en
NOTE: Your audio and
video should work. Enjoy.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so
you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope
this helps. Bud
SOURCE: Can see them but they can't see me while on SKYPE connection
look for cam driver compatible with skype.
SOURCE: Microsoft Lifecam vx-5000 video distorted
The drivers dont seem to have been loaded properly. Uninstall the webcam and reboot. Reinstall the drivers and reboot. Connect the webcam and allow mac to detect the webcam and load drivers. Then go to Skype and from tools->Options go to Video. there set the webcam as the default camera.
