Earlier 2 slots of ram of total 6gb recognised but now only one ram of 2gb recognised

The only cause for this change is either one RAM chip has failed or the slot has failed. Should be easy to find the bad item since RAM comes in 2 and 4GB sizes. The 4GB chip/slot is the problem. Put any GB chip into the slot and see if the total increases. If yes, the 4GB chip is bad. If not, the slot is bad.

What is the max memory for a gateway nv ms 2285?

Its RAM maxes out at 4GB. The ms2285 is the midrange computer in the NV53 series. It either shipped with 2GB RAM or 4GB RAM. If it shipped with 4GB, it's already maxed out. Otherwise, you can add 2GB to it now.

Adding RAM

First off make sure to check how much ram your motherboard can use make sure the rams also have the same or it will use the lowest speed and besides that make sure you have enough slots and your good to go put them in and your motherboard should pick them up and your done and pls explain more . It's kind of confusing do u have 2GB and want to add 2 more or do u have 4GB excuse me if I don't understand your writing above?

Memory upgrade 2gb 4gb

The CF29 comes in two basic flavors:
#1: With 256MB RAM and DDR Ram with One open slot.
So add a 1GB DDR RAM (PC-2700) DDR 333 and
the maximum RAM is now 1.2GB

#2: With 512MB RAM and DDR2 Ram with One open slot.
So add a 1GB DDR2 RAM (PC2-5300) and the
maximum RAM is now 1.5GB.

This is my experience and very frustrating to find out the
hard way that the CF29 does not support a 2GB DDR2
RAM Module.

Good Luck.

AOD270-1824 can i put a 4gb ram in it

You can add 1GB of ram but that's it. Definately not a 2GB Stick or 4GB stick.

I want to add 4GB of DDR3 memory, what further info to I need to know about the memory?

Newegg has a great site to find the correct and most compatible memory for you Here.
To maximize your ram speed, use the same speed and types of ram

For example, if you have a 1GB right now, add three more 1GB than putting in a 2GB and 1GB.
If you have a 4GB ram stick right now, add another 4GB and not 2x2GB. Also make sure the MHz on the ram is the same, (1333, 1600, 2000)

Enjoy upgrading your computer!

You can upgrade to 2Gb ram. I dont think your notebook will support 4Gb ram. A 2Gb Transcend ram will cost you around 1500 bucks INR

Want to add memory all 4 spots are used

If all of your memory slots are used, you will need to remove the memory that is currently installed in order to increase your RAM. It appears that the T180s were originally configured with 256MB, but they are expandable to 4GB. If there are 4 slots (I couldn't find any documentation with images), you can use a maximum size of 1GB modules for each slot. Just remember that if you are using a 32-bit operating system and you upgrade to 4GB of RAM, you will not be able to use all 4GB. The BIOS will report 4GB RAM, but the operating system will only see approximately 3.4GB.
