You may want to go to Panasonic.com under support section and see if there is a firmware update for your player you burnit on a PC then put it in your DVD, Instructions are there if theres an update, some players need an update to play anything faster than 1x-4x if you have 16x media it may not work

Tascam cd-rw750 - while recording from another CD player (using digital coax connection), machine records for some time and then just "jumps out of record mode" and goes back to the beginning like nothing...

1. First problem: "like nothing is recorded". IS something recorded or has it been left in Pause Mode so long (instead of Recording) that it just got impatient and time out?

2. Get yourself a couple of CD-RW Digital Audio discs to play with until you're past this learning curve/problem scenario. That way you can always erase them and start over without having to discard the disc.

3. Dropouts on playback. Are they repeatable - always at the same place, even on different CD players? If so, the data is bad on the disc. If not, the data is probably marginal.

4. If you have a DVD player, try to play the failed recordings in it. Some DVD players can play back unfinalized CDR's. You may be able to recover the data by copying it back to the CD Recorder from the DVD player. Just be advised that an unfinalized CD-RW may not have 'silence' following the last recorded track due to old data remaining from a previous session, so be ready to pause or stop the recorder when the last track finishes.

5. "Scratches near the outside of the CD". Were these NOT present prior to entering the CD Recorder? Do they seem to coincide with about where the recording may have failed?

6. 20 vs 19 tracks: Is this a constant problem or only when there is a failure during CD creation? If the latter, it would make sense as the last track in isn't technically completed.

When I turn my Toshiba D-VR4 recorder on, it won't go to DVD

I figured it out with absolutely no help from the manual. To initiate recording, you have to press the timer/set button. After the DVD recorder finishes recording, you have to re-press the timer/set button to take it out of recording mode. I think their book needs to explain that more clearly.

It wont finalize disc just says disc error

Sounds like a duff (dirty or scratched) disc. Try another one.

Dvd wont play just spins

Usual suspects (I have seen each one of these):
1. Home-made DVD defective
a- bad blank
b- bad burn (software settings incorrect)
c- not finalized
d- bad DVD recorder
2. Commercial DVDs - very scratched near center hole where startup data lives
3. Dirty laser lens on DVD player
4. Bad circuitry in DVD player (repairs almost always cost more than a new player)

I would like to be able to record TV shows WITH subtitles/closed captions. I have a Hisense HD LCD TV with built in HD tuner. I would like to be able to record onto a DVD/VCR. I'm getting conflicting...

Hey, I have a deaf brother with this issue. What I done was route the AV output of the TV to the AV input of the recorder. Set your recorders source to AV1 (or whichever you use) and set your TV to the program you want to record, also turn subtitles on. Because you wont have your TV set to the input your DVD recorder is on, you won't be able to see the DVD recorders output, but thats fine. Just press record on the unit - you have to leave the TV on the channel it's recording. Now you should be recording TV with subtitles with no problem :D

PANASONIC DVD RECORDER STUCK ON SELF CHECK

This can usually be down to two things, a faulty PSU board which is going to be expensive and needs to be professionally repaired, or simply a faulty or dirty DVD has been inserted into the machine.

Try the following:
1. Hold down Standby and Eject buttons on front panel together for 60 seconds (until the recorder goes into standby mode).
2. Now hold down Eject button until it ejects the disc.
3. Now insert a different DVD disc and see if that cures the problem.

If that fails then it's probably a faulty PSU, and unless the recorder is under guarantee or warranty it will be too costly to repair.
