Exactly the same problem with my Bush DVR3004. Although it does play DVD+RWs that were recorded on it before this problem started.

Regarding the Bush DVR3004 and the 'Smartnavi' screen, a workaround is to repeatedly press the record button on the remote while the "DISC LOADING" screen is displayed.

I suggest all the people, and there seems to be many, who are having problems with their Emerson EWR20V5 units contact the nearest Consumer Protection Agency and lodge a formal complaint and ask that Emerson be forced to fix or replace these units at Emerson's expense or desist operation until such time they have complied.

SOURCE: Emerson DVD Recorder EWR20V

Called the funai's service tech line at 1-800-605-8457. They will sell you a firmware update for 23.00 shipped that will allow it to use up to 8X DVD-RW. I'm using memorex 2X DVD-RW (RITEKW01) I got from walmart. They seem to work OK although dubbing on my deck doesn't seem to work. Probably unrelated.

Have you initialised the disk? The manual states that for the first use a DVD-RW has to be initialised first.

My pioneer dvdrw dvr 107d door wont open when i press button /have cd stuck inside (worked 5 mins ago) can still view dvd content/ will driver update fix ? please help

The drive may have come loose in your pc and is stopping the door to open.Hold open the front flap and press the eject button. If it wont eject your disk straighten out a paperclip and holding the front flap open look at the front of your drive and you will see a small hole.Push the paperclip through the hole and it will release the catch and eject your disk, You may have to push hard .Hope this helps you.

My drive is listed as DVD-RW-DVR-lllD, but when I put a DVD disk into it, it changes automatic to CD-RW Drive E. How do I keep it as a DVD burner?

Try burning a disk, and taking the burnt disk to another computer, to see if the other computer recognizes the media as being a DVD disk.

Every disk I put in to record something says bad disk

Hi,

There's very little information about your problem, like model and disks you are using. I can give you general information.

All DVD's doesn't work will all types of recorders.

DVD Types:
  1. DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-RAM, DVD-ROM, DVD+ROM.
For More In-Deph detail of DVD Formats, Enter Here.

Check what types of disk your equipment uses. Maybe needs lens cleaner or is a equipment malfunction. If it reads, then most likely is in good shape. From my experience, I have two DVD recordable setup boxes. But one only accepts DVD-RAM and the other accepts DVD+Recordables and ReWritables.

If this can't help, you can post more detail about your equipment.

LOCKED DVR

I just bought the CH-DVR 1600 @ Target. This is just a temporary workaround to enable playing of region 2 DVD disks (don't have other regions but believe it will work also), until the real regional unlock is available.

1. Insert the region 2 DVD disk and close the tray.
2. Wait for the "Wrong Region" popup to appear in the upper-right corner of your TV screen.
3. The display on your DRV reads "STOP" at this point and the "Wrong Region" popup has disappeared.
4. Press the number "1" button on your DVR remote and a small input popup will appear in the upper-left corner of your screen.
5. Do not press anything else and the DVR will accept this entry as a chapter # and proceed to this chapter to start playing the movie.

NOTE1: The DVR runs in a somewhat restricted node, e.g. the DVR display still reads "STOP" and some remote functions do not work, such as "Menu". The input numbers correspond to the chapters on the DVD disk, so you can experiment and get to the menu once you hit one of the extra feature chapters with a "back to the menu" link on it.

NOTE2: I’m anxiously awaiting the real unlock sequence, as I tried most of the old ones posted here, none seemed to work.

also try this
-Switch player ON with no disc in the tray. Close tray and press MENU, 1, and 9 on the remote control. A menu should appear with the Region Option. Highlight the Region entry and press ENTER on the remote. Type in the Region you want. (Put 0 for code free) Press ENTER again to confirm choice. Press OPEN/CLOSE TRAY button and put in movie.

Dvd writer wont accept dvd-r

If you have posted the correct model of writer, then it only supports the writing of DVD+R and DVD+RW discs, but CD-R and CD-RW disc writing are supported, and it should play all forms of DVD, so it won't burn DVD-R and RW discs, but if it wont play all types then try a cd/dvd cleaner, but to be honest when writers start playing up the lens is normally faulting and a replacement drive will be required.
