Check the batteries on a meter,sounds like they are flat, you can get sold poor battery's as this is an older camera the shops can hold onto old stock, tell me more and i will look into it for you

Hello, my cannon rebel xs says card write protected, i tried a new card, plus the button on the side of the card, plus removing battery, and putting battery back in problem is still there.iam lost

Try setting your camera to factory default settings.

My new cannon rebel isnt working, the lens will focus but the screen is black. cannot get the shutter to activate

Mirror mechanism is locked up and probably out o synch with the rest of the shutter cocking mechanism. sometimes there is enough power in battery to focus lens, but not enough to power the winder/shutter/miror mecansim- check the battery

Check the pins in the card slot that non are bent. Other than that it means a return to Canon.

No display; flash busy message is in view finder; new battery

I had the same problem, camera is only 5 months old and still under warrenty. I sent it into cannon for repair...mother board was shot...new board installed...have used the camera 2 times since getting it back...camera has died on me again...same problem. Have to send it back again! Don't recommend this camera to anyone!

Cannon EOS Rebel XS shows busy display stopped working

Just got a brand new camera. Played around with it a few nights to learn all the parts and buttons. Went to a concert tonite. While waiting for the show I took many test shots to see how the camera would work under these contiditions. Used a 75 to 300 Cannon lens. I had just got the settings about right when the show started. All of a sudden the display went dark and "busy" flashed in the view finder. But it would not take any more pictures. Taking the battery out and removing the sd card did not help. The auto focus and flash still worked but nothing else.
This camera is going back to the store if I can't get some help. PLEASE............. vj
