I have a Dell D600 and I cannot install Windows XP on it

there is a short circut on mother board ,you need to go to a pro to fix it

Press F12 as you boot up the Dell and select the CD as the alternate boot device, insert the Windows installation CD in the CD drive and continue.
If you can't select the CD as the alternate boot device then go into the BIOS configuration then the Boot order and select the CD as the first boot device, save and exit. You can change it back after Windows is installed if you wish.

did you install the correct driver of your video card?

is your machine was preloaded with vista then re-format to xp? there are some complications if the machine is loaded with vista then change to xp.

i suggested you put it back to windows vista.

even if u hav a tried a full format and the hard drive freezes then it is a bad sign..run a diagnostic of hdd by pressing F12 at restart.one good thing i want to tell u is tat even if the diagnostic test on the hdd passes,,then also u call up dell tech support and get ur hadd replaced,,because sooner or later u might face a problem with ur hadd again..keep me posted

you need 2GB of memories as minimum. 8GB max.
try again with incresed memories.

Enter BIOS and restore factory default settings.

Try again with the XP install.

did you try to check if the sound card or the sound driver of the laptop is installed, if not go to support.dell.com and install the latest driver of the laptop,put the service tag of the system and that is the 7 alpha numeric characters at the bottom of your system.

Looks like you already have Win XP install on ur machine....why you need to boot by using cd? do u want to reformat your pc or upgrade it?

can u get online with it and go to dell .com dl latest driver for it ? your model for xp ok try that 1st or windows update ok
